lextrvlr Posted March 21 #1 Share Posted March 21 Has anyone come up with a way to block the hinged balcony door in the open position long enough to maneuver a tray or drinks to the balcony?

Have room service deliver. Then when they attend, open door, wait staff will carry through to balcony for one. Simples….
Rare CCWineLover Posted March 21 #3 Share Posted March 21 If you are DIY (not room service), keep door open by blocking it with chair or carryon.
PORT ROYAL Posted March 21 #4 Share Posted March 21 Now fully understand, one will be visiting the Buffet for self selection. Therefore, when browsing completed consider asking a member of the wait staff to carry the tray back to one’s stateroom. Then one can hold open the door to allow the carrier to enter and place the laden tray on the table of one’s balcony.
Rare CCWineLover Posted March 22 #5 Share Posted March 22 You all are making this way more complicated than it needs to be. We found it easy to do it ourselves (open and brace open the door) for whenever we wanted to take something out to the balcony - and not tied to Viking staff either. Certainly if you use them they will gladly help out however.
TayanaLorna Posted March 22 #6 Share Posted March 22 How about one person carries the tray and the other stateroom resident holds the door open.
PORT ROYAL Posted March 22 #7 Share Posted March 22 (edited) Although have occasionally observed it, one is at a loss to understand what is enjoyable, seen as a must do. To first have the thought, then to deliberately walk to the buffet, browse, load a tray with food, drink, napkins, cutlery etc.. The carefully carry (avoiding spills) the load all the way back to a stateroom. To then have to juggle the tray and it’s contents whilst performing contortions to open a door. Just a big no-no Edited March 22 by PORT ROYAL 1

But then the OP will probably be seeking a “2 Tray” solution to the problem.😊

Even if we are still in our jammies.
