Juneau - canoe or kayak excursion?

Which would you choose and why?  Mostly interested in beautiful scenery and possibly wildlife, as well as a view of the glacier.

I have done neither, but I would choose kayak simply because they are more stable as the weight is closer to the water. Canoes tend to be more tippy. Once I tried kayaking I never went back to a canoe!

We did the Rainforest Hike + Canoe in Ketchikan a few years ago and enjoyed that. We are going to try the Mendenhall Glacier Kayak excursion in Juneau when we go back this summer. I think one advantage of the canoe was that it was about ~15-20 people in the canoe so there is more manpower and easier to take a rest if needed. The kayak is just 2 people so you are more self-dependent to get yourself around.

I did the Mendenhall Glacier canoe excursion a couple of years ago.  I had the front seat so had the best view across the lake.  The kayaks can get closer to shore, whereas in the canoe we were limited to where we could go by the "captain".  I really enjoyed the canoe but you do have to rely on a lot of strangers to put in the effort.  If I did it again, I'd go with the kayak.
