wblotner66 Posted March 31 #1 Share Posted March 31 Cruising in Celebrity in March 25 and planning of staying about 3/4 days in Tokyo before. Any suggestions of hotels to stay at. Middle of the road hotel would be great.

Rare Milhouse Posted April 2 #3 Share Posted April 2 Maybe check out APA hotels to see if the brand fits what you are looking for. It's a chain of business class hotels with multiple locations in Tokyo (and Japan). We've stayed at a few of them during previous trips to Japan. While I find them modern, they are kind of basic (eg. Generally not much of a lobby area) and the rooms are fairly small. A few reviews for some locations aren't flattering but we've never had any issues. YMMV of course. Rare Miaminice Posted April 3 #4 Share Posted April 3 (edited) @wblotner66 We have stayed at the Metropolitan Marunouchi in Tokyo once and it was nice. On other occasions we stayed at the Gracery Shinjuku and like it for its fabulous location and good quality for a reasonable price. We have also stayed at APA hotels (one in Shinjuku) and they offer very low rates. However, the rooms are miniscule. A ship´s stateroom is huge compared to them 🙂 If you are interested in the report of our latest cruise to Japan, you can find it here: https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2970853-celebrity-millennium-japan-10242023-liveish-report/ Edited April 3 by Miaminice
XSYTD Posted April 9 #5 Share Posted April 9 Hi, It seems that the room prices almost double in some cases when we enter a triple occupancy. Is it possible to squeeze 2 adults and a teen into a double room? Do you have any other suggestions for an affordable option for this? Thanks

Thanks We stayed at the Dai-ichi Tokyo Hotel in Minato/Ginza with 3 adults in one room. It has a direct underground passage to Shimbashi station (which has direct trains to Yokohama), it's close to lots of restaurants/convenience stores, the rooms are huge by Japanese standards (moderate by American standards lol), and we really enjoyed our 4-night stay there. The Narita limousine bus also has a drop-off point at the hotel, which was a total bonus for us. As far as squeezing 3 people into a double occupancy room without anyone knowing, you won't be able to, as Japanese hotels ask for the passports of every guest upon check-in, not just the reservation holder. It will be very obvious to them what you're trying to do.
