I would ask the TA to go back to Carnival Guest Relations and politely explain that the 8A is now going for the same price you paid for a 4A and ask again for an upgrade OR shipboard credit. It can be done! I've seen clients get upgraded AND shipboard credit.

IF that doesn't work and you don't mind paying the extra $50, then I'd offer to pay the extra $50 and take the 8B. $50 more for a balcony is worth it in my opinion.

In any case, you're still getting a fantastic deal cruising this time of year.
Good luck.

The same thing is happening for us, we booked an 8A guarantee on the Legend in October - price when we started was $1199 pp - there are 5 of us sailing - two balconys were requested. Carnival then had one of their one day sales and I called my TA - 8A balcony guarantee was $1099 - and there was a "best available within the category" upgrade in their sale. We then picked adjoining rooms on the Panorama deck with extended balconies for $1099 for the 4 of us and daughter is priced at $459. Noticed early this morning that 8I was down to $999 for each of the adults - called TA and told her what I found via message at 5:00 this morning - she called and left me a voice mail at the office that she was able to secure the $999 price - so that now amounts to $200 pp and we have our cabin choice. Am watching daily for more price breaks as there seems to be more than 100 rooms available still. I am hoping to see our cuise at $899 pp before final payment is due in July. We are traveling with my parents and they just think I am so incredible to be saving them all this money - so the word from here is if you see it cheaper - "ask for it" I will continue up until the day I set sail. Good Luck!

On our cruise our price dropped 200pp. I called the ta and got the credit. She said Carnival said that would be the last upgrade or credit for this sailing. The next day the price dropped another 200 dollars. I called Carnival and told them what the ta said and that I felt they were not being honest by saying that Carnival refused the credit. The reservations customer service specialist put us on a three way call. We ended up with an upgrade from 8a to cat 11 wraparound balcony. Call Carnival and ask them to do a three way call with your ta. Carnival cannot deal with you direct when you book with a ta. Good Luck!

I am under the impression those one day sales are not subjected to any price reductions and are not good for pre existing cruises. When you se a sale you have to read the fine print. Look for the reductions on your agents web page OR carnivals web page.

Hi there. I was wondering if there two different ways TA's book reservations. My TA tells me that she has a block of rooms assigned to her for her guests. She has advised me that I cannot get my cruise cheaper than the $787/pp for an 8A guarantee (including taxes and port fees and $100 shipboard credit) even if it drops on Carnival's website. I seriously doubt that Carnival will drop below the price I've paid, but if by chance it does, shouldn't I get an upgrade or something? Final payment is due mid-July.. any advice is appreciated. By the way, would you say I have a really good deal as it is? Actually with the shipboard credit the price is $737/pp for the balcony. I am quite pleased with that.

QTPie: Sounds like your agent booked you in a as a group so that any price reductions will not apply to you. Its booked seperatly. But at leat the agent told you upfront about her procedures.

Is your shipboard credit pp or per cabin? Even without the onboard credit I think your price is a good price. Whats your sail date>?

If you are past final payment, can you still get upgrades or credits if the price of your cruise drops? Ours dropped 50 p/p a few months ago and they simply deducted it from what we owed, but now we have paid it all off and we are still more than 100 days away from the cruise. If it drops again, will I still be accomodated?

You should be able to get upgrades, refunds or credits up until the cancellation penalty date (71 days). After that, it becomes more difficult.

It's not difficult at all. Even if you are past final payment, all you do is call your TA and tell them that you believe the price of your cruise has dropped. Your TA SHOULD call and inquire about an upgrade or onboard credit.

After final payment and the free cancellation period, getting upgrades or credits is at the sole discretion of Carnival. Your TA can inquire but the decision is up to Carnival.

Serene... The credit is $100 per cabin or $50 per person. I am quite happy with my rate of $737.00 for the balcony 8A guarantee. I can't imagine the price going below that, but you never know!

Ok, I must be doing something wrong. When I go to Carnival's Web Site and try to see the price for our cruise in August is says "sold out" and won't give me a price. We have a guarantee balcony for $949.00 with 3rd and 4th at $438.00. If anyone sees anything lower in their searches, please let me know. Thanks so much

From what I have been reading on this board over the past 3 months, it seems that all TA's are not created equal.

I don't know if the Op will win her battle with the TA or not but I hope that everyone who reads this thread learns from it.

To anyone who is reading this thread, my advise is to ask the TA before you book, how they handle price drops and what they will give you when the price does drop because unless you book only 3 weeks in advance chances are the price will go down during your booking period at one time or another.

My particular Ta told me that they would give upgrades to me as long as I kept track of the prices (which I gladly did) they would not refund my credit card after the final payment (but would before the final payment) would give ship credit if I wanted that instead of an upgrade up until final payment but any ship credit after final payment would be at Carnival's discretion. I was happy with these terms and booked through them, making sure to keep a check on the rates daily and upgraded myself from a 1A to a 7A during the course of 8 weeks.
Because upgrades are so much easier to get than credits or refunds, my advice is always book when the rate is what you are willing to pay...not a penny more...in a cabin that you are willing to be in and then when the prices drop, upgrade yourself.

I believe in Miracles

Morriscats: I have searched your cruise looking at different online agencies. Some wont show your sailing at all. and the others are showing no balconies at all. But if i change the number of passengers to 2 I see a lot more availabilty- but nothing in a balcony cabin. You are right on top of the 70 day mark. Should check back in about 10 days. After the 70 days and people pay their final payment you will see a lot more availability since people cancel before that and agents give back the cabins they are holding. Carnival may be restructuring their cabins they have left.

Also a side note: not all agents give refunds on a price reduction of a cruise after final payment. I learned a very expensive lesson with my Victory cruise. Now its the first question I ask my agent.

I just got a an upgrade because my cruise went down 50 pp. They only offered a 25 pp shipboard credit or an upgrade. I went from an 8c to an 8g. I am happy with that but if the price goes down again will Carnival upgrade me again. My cruise is 7/26. Actually I checked today and the price I paid for the original 8c went up $50.
