LIVE-ish Carnival Magic May 19 - May 26 Family Cruise Eastern Caribbean LET’S CRUISE!

Recommended Posts

Good morning!  Had a great evening!

Went to the Welcome Aboard  show and after party, where SIL participated in the air guitar contest!

Then double comic adult show in the main theater at 11.

Oldest grandson loving kids club made lots of friends, younger not so much.

Got espresso coffee with NO LINE at the hidden coffee bar in non smoking casino!

Then the free includedpasta bar for lunch—less than 12 people there!  Hot and yummy!

Overcast and warm.  I am enjoying a bit of quiet time on the lounger on my balcony!

Kids wanted to check Bingo out so we did that plus they had pool//water slide time.  4pm for the soccer match at the Sports Court.

I will be on the Magic in April, so looking forward to your review! How did you get from FLL to the hotel in Miami? The only time I've cruised from POM, we flew into FLL because we had never been there and stayed 2 nights in Ft Lauderdale for sightseeing and such. Returned the retal car to FLL and used SAS to POM and back to FLL after the cruise. We will be flying SW in April (points to use!) so trying to decide if we should fly into FLL or MIA. It will be Good Friday on our flight day, so I'm thinking maybe FLL for a cheaper hotel and using a shuttle to POM again? Cruise leaves on Saturday but it's Easter weekend, so I'm afraid traffic will be too crazy for Uber.

@straitlover1965 We took an Uber to our hotel in Miami—All 6 squeezed into an XL Uber.  We arrived Saturday night so expensive-_$115 but not bad on a per-person basis.  Traffic was bad but we used the express lane and scooted on in.

Took awhile to get the crew member medically evacuated on Princess Cay.  But we are on track for an on time arrival in Puerto Rico!

Our favorite bartender from the Venezia, Zora, is here at the Alchemy Bar!  Makes the best Chocolate Martinis in the fleet.  Evidently no longer serving the Non-alcoholic Lyres drinks and we are very disappointed.

Formal night dinner tonight.  Appetizer Tuna Crudi was very good.  Extremely disappointed with the “Jumbo”  Shrimp and fish cake with a pedestrian red sauce, and not a fan of the filet mignon mixed with short rib my DH had—the filet used to be thicker and better,

Took some family photos and now relaxing.  Lovely sunset

Please tell Zora that Jeff and Patti say hello. We love Zora! 😁

Evening of pool, singing along to musical trivia answers in the Magic Lobby (Atrium) with the DJ and CD ( which is a ton more fun that it sounds).  Pool for the kids, show (88 Keys—not great tonight, sound mix was a mess, creating shouting singing; however the piano lounge player from South Africa, first contract was great and did an excellent pre-show; we are def going to spend some time in the piano lounge in the evening!).  Some of the family watched a movie; I didn’t want to so i gambled a bit on the Little Shop of Horrors slot machine (won a decent amount, then lost a decent amount of the winnings…).  Got my midnight pizza. 20 minute wait, but I thought it would be worse. Don’t like having to stand outside for it sweating in my nice formal night clothes now that I’m spoiled by the indoor pizza places on the Excel class ships!

OK; its 1AM; here is where the -ish part of this LIVE! comes in. Have to go to sleep so I an get up for Sea Day Brunch with the family tomorrow. Photos of today will follow!

This morning we had Sea Day Brunch!  We agreed to wake up around 9am and try to get a reservation around 9:30.  Of course dear hubby put in for the ressie right at 9 it said 10 to 20 minutes.  We had to recall the family from the Dr. Seuss parade, and didn’t make it in the 10 minute slot.  We put RIGHT back in and got the same table, so if that happens to you, just re-do the ressie and you can get lucky like we did!

We really enjoyed the brunch. We had Clint as our server and he was ON IT. After ordering the entire table had wished we tried the fried chicken and a grandson got french toast but then wanted chicken nuggets (he lives on those) and BOOM Clint heard and had it right out to us!   The Fried Chicken was YUMMY and hot too!  I had the eggs benedict (cold; I should stop ordering that) and the #2 juice with tumeric.  Lots of hot coffee poured as we wanted it!

The kids said the Serenity deck was lovely at midnight—the kids found a clam shell and enjoyed the ocean while the grandsons were in the kids clubs and I was in the casino and DH (our only morning person!) was happily sleeping.

After our Brunch we did the military appreciation—always emotional for me since my dad served.

Then a shopping lesson for younger grandson who wanted to buy a gold chain by the inch…we pointed out that it was kind of shiny and we still haven’t been to a port yet so  1. He might want to save up for the real deal some day, or 2. He might want to see what he can buy at the ports for a souvenir!  Not a 1/2 hour later, he was considering the ship model of the Magic; he’s always admired mine that I use in my youtube channel background.

We have spent the rest of the day so far at the Lido, pool, slides, and now Serenity Deck!  My view till a moment ago; I’ve snagged one of the beds so nap time soon!  Much cooler up here than on the Lido. No problem getting 2 Lido chairs right around lunch time earlier with a little patience; Serenity is quite crowded.

BTW the grandkids are SO enjoying the Bottomless Bubbles package!  They even have their own favorite bartenders!

There they are at the bar getting their Pepsi!  BTW I DO love having a traditional atrium; I miss those on the Excel class ships!

RUH ROH its gotten really cloudy and cool and windy all of a sudden up here on the Serentity Deck!  Maybe a rain shower on the way!  Family is off getting Blue Iguana Cantina for lunch.  Alas, my metabolism is only allowing 2 meals a day. Its not allowing my midnight pizza, but I’m getting that most nights anyway! 😂

Did I mention my WILD time playing Little Shop of Horrors slot machine last night? Had a blast. Unfortunately for me I have the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS song stuck in my head as an ear worm today!

Here is an image of our stop at Princess Cay—there were 3 ships in port, plus us.  A successful medical transfer was made. Grandkids are now going to boast to their friends that they’ve also cruised to the Bahamas!
