Fooblade Posted June 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2004 I booked my July cruise in April through Cruisevaluecenter.com. The price p/p then was over $1300 for an 8A and now it is on the site for under $1000 p/p. I called them and they said prices change every day and they would have to get back to me. Has anyone dealth with them and should I call Carnival direct or just keep on CVC to credit me or at least give an upgrade??? Carnival Miracle A minute from now still isnt soon enough!!!!! Rare dickinson Posted June 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Carnival won't deal with you because you are going through a TA. You will therefore have to wait for them or call them back yourself. Because you should be in penalty period they should be calling Carnival to either get you an upgrade or onboard credit. Ultimately it is Carnival's descretion which to offer if they do (I think they offer it most times). I would tell your agent which you prefer. Personally we prefer the onboard credit as that in essence is money in our pocket. It goes on your sail and sign account. Your tips are posted there too so you usually are not in any danger of not spending enough! Fooblade Posted June 16, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Thanks for the advice dickinson. From what she told me on the phone during the initial call, it sounded like they arent gonna do anything for me. If they do tell me there is nothing they can do, then should I tell them Id like to cancel and then rebook at the lower prices?? The difference is like $1200 total and I think cancellation fees are far less than that. Carnival Miracle A minute from now still isnt soon enough!!!!! serene56 Posted June 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Some agents do not give the reduction but since you are a little more then the 70 days out please cancel and rebook if its with the same agency-- watch thos cancellation fees the agency may charge. Also, look around and you may find the same price elsewhere so when the price does comes down the new agency will give you the refund. I wouldnt book using the same agency- what happens if the price drops further?? Good luck. PS-- do not wait too much longer as you are at 80 days. After 70 days you will lose your deposit which is a lot more then 50 bucks pp. Going NOWHERE Miracle, February 13, 2005 Legend, October 22,2004 Voyager August 31,2003 Victory September 22,2002 Regal Empress,June 2001 Sensation,August 2000

BigDoug Posted June 16, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2004 That information is on the Carnival website. Contract terms Go to Item #8. Right now you would lose your deposit amount. Kittymama Posted June 16, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Actually, Carnival ALWAYS offers to lower the price with the TA. TA's don't always want to do that because it lowers their commission. What Carnival will do then if offer shipboard credit--that way the TA keeps their commission & the passenger is happy. Since you booked thru a TA, Carnival legally can't deal with you directly. However, get nasty with the TA & tell them you want shipboard credit at a minimum. Don't fall for the "it's Carnival's fault" routine--that's a lazy/incompetent TA's excuse when they screw up (or don't want to possibly cut their commission). StefanieMS Posted June 16, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 16, 2004 I like cruisequick. But, you have to be ok with e-mail only. They respond fast, and you have everything in writing (watch out for aol spam folder though). As for your situation now, you could call Carnival and ask them to do a three way call with cruisevalue. Good luck. Stefanie Cruise on the pride
