Regent Explorer Tokyo to Tokyo April 2026

Recommended Posts

Hello

We've just put a hold on this cruise for over the weekend until we 100% decide to go for it. We've cruised with Regent 3 times in the past but not since 2018. We hugely enjoyed the cruises and hope the experience will be as good as we remembered.

I've watched quite a few YouTube videos so hopefully know what to expect from the ship. The trip is £20k which is massive for us, the most expensive trip we'll ever have taken so we want to make sure it's definitely what we want. The trip comes with a pre cruise 3 day land programme called Vibrant Tokyo, it's staying at the Hilton Tokyo and includes some morning tours. Has anyone ever done this and if so can you share you thoughts on it?

Any hints/tips on how to make the absolute most of this trip would be very much appreciated!!

Thank you in advance.

LoveChops:

Did Explorer's Vancouver, B.C.-Tokyo cruise last Fall.  This included three-day "Vibrant Tokyo" post-cruise add-on with stay at Hilton Tokyo.

Hotel was fine; separate breakfast area venue for Regent guests.  Included Breakfast buffet was massive as to choices.  Had dinner one night at one of the three specialty restaurants.  Best French Onion soup I ever had--to include those enjoyed during earlier stays in France.  Convenient location as to other dining options both in adjacent metro area and at the atrium located directly beneath the hotel.

One quirk:  Our room was on the 22nd (or so) Floor.  Learned, in the mornings, to go UP in an elevator before going DOWN to lobby for breakfast; or to a lower floor reception room used to gather, and brief, guests before a morning or afternoon tour. This assured us not having a long wait for boarding an elevator during "rush hours".  .

We were O.K. with the tours. Interesting sites within the greater (and it is a REALLY greater) Tokyo area. Lots of walking, often up a series of steep steps to a Temple, or Shrine.  Guides were fluent in English, kind, and responsive when responding to questions.

Explorer was, as usual, in good shape.  Great Staff. Top service.

Hope this helps.  But, as always, YMMV.

GOARMY!

We did this in April 2023. Pretty much agree with everything GO ARMY!

posted. Japan was new for us so we enjoyed most of the tours possibly excepting the shopping on the Ginza. Accommodations were very good and both the Japanese and Chinese restaurants in the hotel were excellent.

We did this cruise (30 days) in April 2024.  There is an "Almost Live - Explorer Tokyo to Vancouver" in this forum.

DG had some mobility issues so some of the excursions were too much for him, but he stayed on the bus with some other people in his situation.

We both found Japan very interesting, every place you turn you will see something different.

The Hilton is nice hotel.   It is connected to the subway (I figured this out the last afternoon we were there) and has some services in the underground walkways. We took the first and last days excursion pre cruise.  We were not happy that we didn't get to the ship until around 3pm.

Everything on the ship was great Just pay attention to the excursion descriptions.

Did the Tokyo to Vancouver cruise this past April. Tokyo Hilton is a very nice hotel and the included breakfast buffet was very good. We decided to do our own thing instead of the included tours as we had been to Tokyo before, but the third day tour on the way to the ship we thought was well done. The Explorer is a beautiful ship!

We are on the waitlist for the pre-cruise Vibrant Tokyo this October on Explorer.  What have been your experiences clearing a waitlist, not Sold Out, with offered pre or post pre-cruise Regent offers?

Thank you.

We did the Vibrant Tokyo pre-cruise in March this year. We stayed at the Tokyo Hilton which was OK. The hotel was extremely busy due the Tokyo marathon being held on the day we arrived. The hotel had a 3 night package for the marathon participants and supporters. Unlike GOARMY we didn’t have a separate dining room for breakfast. We wished we had arranged our own tours as we didn’t find some of them very interesting, for example a high-end shopping street and a stone bridge! Obviously others would have a different view!
