AmanaCruise2 Posted June 8 #1 Share Posted June 8 I've been reading about the steep drop when entering the water at Mahogany Bay. As a cruiser with crummy knees, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me just how steep this drop is? People have mentioned having trouble getting out of the water. I would like to avoid becoming one of those people who might need to be rescued! Thanks!!!!!
grantbob Posted June 11 #2 Share Posted June 11 I would estimate it drops about 2.5-3 ft, over basically one step, about 3 or 4 ft out.
AmanaCruise2 Posted June 12 Author #3 Share Posted June 12 Ugh. That's a steep drop for me! There's no way I can step up to get out of the water with a 2.5-3 ft height. Guess I have to come up with other plans. Thanks so much for the feedback!!!

You enter the water, walk about a yard, it gets deeper (definitely over 5'), but not like OMG!, you swim for about a yard, and then it gets shallow again and stays shallow. My dad, who can barely walk and has bad everything, did just fine. Here, this should give you a really good idea:

eclue Posted August 31 #6 Share Posted August 31 If you have knee issues, I would not go to Mahogany Bay beach.....
