Seabourn quest

Recommended Posts

We are experienced cruisers but never cruise Seabourn, we are a gay couple and wonder how would be sailing with them. We like to enjoy the amenities on ship and spend quiet moments. One of us goes to Gym and sauna to unwind. Thank you for sharing .

We have 100+ nights on Seabourn over the last 15 years.  We enjoy the smaller ship compared to most other lines a lot and tend to view the ship more like a resort rather than going on a lot of shore excursions.  Passengers and crew are friendly.  There will likely be a few gay/lesbian couples.  Like all cruise lines it's a little different in 2024 than it was in 2010 but still a smaller, more intimate experience on board due to many fewer passengers with good food and inclusive drinks.  Especially in the Caribbean Seabourn is more relaxed than Silversea.  Most fellow passengers in their 60s and 70s from US, Canada, UK, and Europe.  Few to no kids usually.

What other cruise lines have you been on?  As with everything service intensive these days we find its best to keep our expectations reasonable and not build up to something that's unachievable.  There will likely be a few meals you don't care for or times you have to ask for a drink to be refilled.  That happens in expensive shore based restaurants too.

Thank you Stan01.  We  like your way to look at cruising. We are very similar, 'cruise is about the journey not the destination'.  We have been on a variety of cruise lines: Silversea, Oceania, Regents,Holland, Celebrity, Costa , Viking,  Princess etc. The best so far is Silversea. We want to experience Seabourn, maybe soon. May I ask if they have OBC for referral?

The answer to your question about referral, is Yes they do. Just get someone who has sailed with them, they should have a referral voucher.

Also note that Quest has a Free of Charge Sauna in the Gents changing room, so if you want just a Sauna there is no need to pay.

Curious to know your thoughts on Viking compared to the other lines you have sailed and why...?

To give you our experience, one word. Excellent. First,no kids, minimum age is 18, beer and wine included at meal times, no restrictions. Good choice of included excursions. Very good service, great pool and sauna areas. Sushi all the times. Very helpful staff. We sailed on an ocean ship , this might be different from a river cruise.

This is how we feel about Viking and why we are at 10 cruises with Viking with 4 more booked.

Regarding your comment about River - on Viking we love River as well, but very different from Ocean.  We love both, but if I had to make a decision to only sail one in the future it would be a difficult decision, but I would likely pick Ocean.  This is for many reasons...

Missed this earlier while we were on Cunard QM2 for two weeks.  I'd add QM2 Queens Grill to the list too especially if you enjoy traditional dining room service.  We weren't sure we would, but once we were on board we immediately loved our service team and wanted to bring them home with us. Also there were 20-50 people at the LGBT meet up in Commodore Club every night at 5 PM, and at least while he was on board one of the ship's pianists served as an informal host which was nice.  Gay men had their share of Queens Grills tables too.

We've always found Seabourn to be a little less formal than Silversea.  Easier to meet people, and people a little more relaxed and wanting to have fun.  Seabourn's demographic is baby boomers in their 60s and 70s -- they've changed and its not as staid as it was 20 years ago.
