Juneau, AK - shuttle between AJ Dock and downtown Juneau

Cruising this summer on the Celebrity Edge and see that there is a $5 shuttle between our scheduled AJ Dock berth and downtown Juneau.  Can anyone help with these questions?

1). Location(s) in downtown Juneau where the shuttle drops off/picks up passengers?

2). How easy is it to use service? (frequency of service? length of lines? seating?)

3). How easy is it to get to the Alaska State Museum from the shuttle's downtown drop off/pick up point? (distance? hills?)

 

My elderly traveling companions want to independently visit the Alaska State Museum when our ship is in port. They can easily walk a few blocks but long distances and inclines are challenging. Also, they would need to be on a shuttle where they can be seated rather than expected to stand. Most likely, one person would bring along a walker.

The shuttle runs continuously throughout the day. It drops at the tram area which is central to where most of the tours pick up. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the museum from there, a flat walk. In the past, the shuttles have been a standard bus and not the school bus type so seating is good. There can be some lines at times if you head out first thing.

This is not an answer to your shuttle question but a comment about the Alaska State Museum.  It is wonderful.  We spent almost half a day there.  

 

If your folk are into Alaska heritage type museums there is a hidden gem museum in Ketchikan - http://www.ketchikanmuseums.org/exhibits/totem-heritage-exhibits.  It isn't quite in the center of town so you need to use the tourist shuttle to get there which drops you off at the front door of the museum but it is worth a visit.
