Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. from Long Beach

Recommended Posts

Planning a ride on either The Pacific Surfliner after a MX cruise from Long Beach In late November. Where is the best place to get on? Union station (LAX) or Fullerton? The Coast Starlight (which I would prefer) leaves Union Station at 9.51 am. Could I make that? what would be the best way of getting to Union station.

A little confused as to where you need to get to?

I would say your best shot for the Coast Starlight at 9:51 would be to take a cab or Uber/Lyft from LB direct to Union Station,  LA.

Any reason not to do the Surfliner?  Looks like you could go to Fullerton or Irvine and catch it around 2 PM.  It would put you in later to SLO but the routes the same.

They would have to use a Connector Bus to get to SLO on the Pacific Surfliner, the train doesn't stop there.

There is a Surfliner that arrives at 8:45pm.

No bus on the #761 or #777 direct train to SLO.

The 761 is too early and the 777 too late for the OP.

Clearly 761 is too early that's why I mentioned the 777 and pointed out how late it arrives in SLO.  But I don't see the OP mentioning any concern out the late arrival of 777.  More importantly there's no bus leg for 777.

But they'd have to wait around until after 2PM I believe for the 777.
