boatmad Posted July 4 #1 Share Posted July 4 We will be in obstructed ocean view cabin. Are umbrellas provided in that category stateroom? Eurodam.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted July 5 #2 Share Posted July 5 Typically only in suites. You can get one, though, at the gangway as you scan out on port days.
boatmad Posted July 5 Author #3 Share Posted July 5 Thanks. Didn’t want the weight and space for Alaska cruise.
oakridger Posted July 5 #4 Share Posted July 5 I have always had an umbrella in regular veranda cabins on all the ships I have cruised on. I don't have experience with OV or Obstructed OV. Note that the provided umbrellas are very large golf type, which is great for keeping dry, but I don't want to carry one that size around in port "just in case" of rain. ~Nancy
boatmad Posted July 6 Author #5 Share Posted July 6 We have only had them on suites in the past, but that was on the smaller ships. Hoped since Eurodam is a little larger and newer, they might be provided. Thanks for the imput.
Foggy Bay Posted July 20 #6 Share Posted July 20 Pro tip from a former SE Alaska resident and someone who leads tours there: Don't bring an umbrella, even if they are provided. You will be in and out of shops, opening the umbrella, shutting the umbrella, being annoyed and annoying, poking people--wear a rain jacket with a hood like the locals and be happy. Trust me. 🙂
