Ugaaucruisers Posted July 8 #1 Share Posted July 8 La Spezia train.. if our ship departs LaSpezia at 5:00 and our train arrives in La Spezia at 2:30, do we have enough time to get back onto the ship? Thinking about walking and know that we have to take the shuttle from the terminal to the ship. Thoughts? Thanks!
euro cruiser Posted July 8 #2 Share Posted July 8 On foot it's one and a quarter miles from La Spezia Centrale train station to the cruise terminal building where you'll get the bus to your ship. For a 5:00 departure they'll want you on the bus no later than 4:30. Even the slowest walker I know can make a mile and a quarter in two hours. Ugaaucruisers Posted July 8 Author #3 Share Posted July 8 Thanks. Just wasn’t sure how early we needed to be on the ship and if the buses were pretty regular going from the terminal to the ship. Thanks again. Laura

In theory it’s a 30 min walk. If you’re short of time take a taxi to the port from the train.
Ugaaucruisers Posted September 6 Author #5 Share Posted September 6 Hi. We did take a taxi from the port and to the port. Not because of time, but there were cabs waiting. I had read that the cabs were few and far between, thus the plan to walk. It all worked out great. A fast trip, but worth it!!

Great to hear as we want to do the same. Do you recall what you paid for the cab?

We’re overnighting in La Spezia and would like to return to Lucca for a visit. Wondering if it’s pretty easy to do from La Spezia Centrale independently. trotzoll Posted Tuesday at 08:26 PM #11 Share Posted Tuesday at 08:26 PM We took the train from Cinqe Terre to La Spezia several years ago asks walked to the port to catch the ship. It was a very nice walk, even having time to sit and enjoy a beer and gelato. Like the others, I’d say, don’t dawdle with that time frame. We had plenty of time, but if the train is running behind, you may want to get a taxi so you don’t chance it.

Plenty of different train options with either a change in Viareggio or Pisa Centrale.
