Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #127 Share Posted July 18 TIP: When you get off the ship, there are 3 ways to get to the beaches. One way is walking across the bridge, the second is to take the nature trail, the third way is to take the people mover/chair lift ($15 for all day access). The Mahogany Bay sign is right past the duty free shop: To get to the beach, turn right after the sign. You can then choose to take the chair lift or just walk across the bridge. TIP: Right after the bridge is another opportunity for a great picture of the ship. Thankfully, our ship was docked in the prime spot, as opposed to Carnival Liberty.
Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #128 Share Posted July 18 Prices of Activities are quite reasonable: TIP: This is a great place for anyone who wants to just try out kayaking for the first time. The price is right, and you are likely to see lots of sea life and beautiful mangroves.
Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #129 Share Posted July 18 TIP: If you want to find a quiet beach and a lounger close to the water, but you don’t want to rush off the ship, walk all the way to the far end of the bay. The first beach was already crowded with almost no loungers close to the water. When I got to the far beach, only 2 of the loungers by the water had been claimed. The beach is indicated by this arrow - by the far pier - it is also a great snorkeling area: Walk toward “El Hideaway”, past the cabanas, then turn right at “El Hideaway”- The walk is only about 5 minutes from the bridge. There are not many loungers in this area, but there were still plenty left when I was done swimming after 1 hour. It is not a well known space, so you have more privacy and LOTS of space in the bay to swim without bumping into others. A view of the bay, as seen from the ship. The quiet area is on the right of the picture by that pier:
Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #130 Share Posted July 18 (edited) Look at all that swimming space without the crowds: The view toward the cabanas: There is lots of sea life to enjoy - wish I had not forgotten my phone cover to take some underwater pictures! Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #131 Share Posted July 18 The busy beach area - closer to the ship. TIP: One reason this beach and swim area may be more popular is that it has less seagrass, more sand and shallow space for walking in the water. So, this may be for you if you prefer the sand. This pictures was taken early, before it got crowded.
Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #132 Share Posted July 18 Some Views of Activities around Mahogany Bay: TIP: They have showers and foot washing stations in several places… (There is no Lava Pie 😂) ”Mon” and “Womon” 😄 TIP: If you don’t have a roaming plan, you can get wifi for $5. I did not use this, so I can’t report on the quality/speed. 4
Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #133 Share Posted July 18 (edited) The Nature Trail: TIP: If you want to go to the beach via the nature trail, make a sharp right u-turn after walking through the Duty Free shop - see arrow in this picture for the start of the nature trail: There are a few misting stations on the trail: A few views of the ship from the trail: Other entrance of the nature trail by the bridge: Edited July 18 by APDMOM Add pic

Rare APDMOM Posted July 18 Author #135 Share Posted July 18 I walked into this restaurant (Captains Galley) and found this spiral staircase. It had no sign, so I had to explore…. It turned out that it is the end of a zipline course, which also give a birds eye view of the ship and bay: Beach Volleyball is also available behind this restaurant:
Canuker Posted July 19 #136 Share Posted July 19 I see your next scheduled port of call is Costa Maya. Assuming you dock there, how is the damage from Beryl?

Assuming you dock there, how is the damage from Beryl? Good morning, @Canuker! We were in Costa Maya yesterday. We did not get off the ship, but everything looked normal through my superzoom camera lens. I will post pictures later today of our views from the ship. 🙂 Edited July 19 by APDMOM add @
parrothead33 Posted July 19 #138 Share Posted July 19 Fantastic review! We did the same itinerary on the Enchanted in April and had a wonderful time. Learning a lot from your review that I didn’t know…. I think we better do it all again😎! Thanks so much for taking the time from your vacation to do this.

Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #142 Share Posted July 19 Evening Entertainment: Rock Opera was excellent. Although it was this group’s debut, it went very well. I am sure they will improve and mesh even better with time, but it was time worth spent! The male vocals were the best tonight, but the ladies’ vocals may just need a little more echo on the mics.
Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #143 Share Posted July 19 My View: End of Day 5 - Mahogany Bay, Roatan Favorite view - Glitz Duo After 5 days on the ship, enjoying the amazing live music in public spaces, this has become my favorite pair. Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #146 Share Posted July 19 Since we had been to Costa Maya many times before, we opted to stay on the ship. This seemed to be a popular choice, as the ship was quite busy all day. Pause here: I will need to put Costa Maya on pause, as my pics are on my camera in our cabin. We were evacuated from our balcony about an hour ago, as they will be doing a medevac - apparently from somewhere on the aft of the ship, as the aft pool area is also closed. I have complete compassion for the family going through this. 😔 I don’t know why the passenger is being evacuated, but I know how it can be utterly stressful. DH had an appendix rupture 12 days before we boarded a cruise. I don’t want to even think about what would have happened if it had ruptured while on the ship… 🙏
Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #147 Share Posted July 19 Early Morning Arrival Views: TIP: Time changed overnight again - spring forward 1 hour to match Costa Maya hours. Enchantment of the Seas, we meet again. (This is the ship where our son got his sea legs in 2005 as a 13-month old 😄)
Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #148 Share Posted July 19 Views of Costa Maya from the Ship: One reason I would have disembarked - I love the harp musician in Costa Maya. It was just too hot to do so on this day: TIP: If you do get off the ship - be sure to watch this ritual performance - If I remember correctly, it is every half hour.
Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #149 Share Posted July 19 The Port: I heard the port being referred to as a ‘resort’ experience by our cruise director. It is a bit of a stretch - yes, there is a pool and a ‘beach’ area with loungers, but no real ocean experience. There is a small space to swim with dolphins as part of an excursion. I would say it is worth walking around the port one time, but don’t set your expectations too high. 🙂 The dolphins: Part of the pool area, as seen from the ship: ”The beach”, which really consists of some loungers, sand, and hammocks: Quite guarded security - I have not seen this before in Costa Maya: TIP: There is a tram for those we have difficulty walking the long pier:
Rare APDMOM Posted July 19 Author #150 Share Posted July 19 TIP: Learn a few expressions in Spanish before visiting Costa Maya and Cozumel. One of our favorite expressions is, “lo siento”. When vendors try to sell things to you, just say ‘lo siento’ (I am sorry). They will respect that and not be pushy. I also say, “No necesito nada, gracias.” (I don’t need anything, thank you) We took 3 years of Spanish together as a family and now enjoy visiting Mexico. The locals really appreciate our efforts to converse in Spanish. 🙂 Zipline Experience Anyone? If anyone has done this excursion/ zipline/ ropes course/ water park experience, please report back. I would like to know if it is worth the price…
