Couldn’t find a bathroom nearby, lots of hand sanitizer stations…surprised there are no sinks Bathrooms are immediately outside the Galley food court. Ladies is on the right (starboard) side, Gents on the other side. But on deck 6, it’s the opposite, Gents outside Extra Virgin (right side), Ladies outside Test Kitchen (left/port side). On deck 5 it’s the same as deck 15, Ladies starboard outside Pink Agave, Gents port side by Razzle Dazzle.

Rare Essiesmom Posted July 16 Author #28 Share Posted July 16 (edited) I took a short nap this afternoon, then it was time to go up to Social Circle to the Solo Social and find out about dinner. I think there were about 15 of us. The only restaurant that would be able to take us all was Razzle Dazzle, where we were last night. We could go other places in smaller groups. So I went to Gunbae with five others. Not a place I had hoped to go, but always up for a new experience. I discovered I no longer have much dexterity with chopsticks. I know this is old hat to the regulars, but maybe some other newbies will be interested. We started with an amuse bouchée. Then they brought trays of small marinated stuff. There are three parts to the food menu. First is the small bites, and I think everyone ordered the crispy chicken. Second part was the type of rice. The last part was pri fixe: shrimp, pork belly and beef. I passed on the shrimp (don’t eat shellfish), and on the pork belly, ate a little of the beef and rice. Dessert was soft serve, mango or green tea. I had the mango. After dinner i went down to Social Circle where they were finishing up trivia, with a huge crowd. I knew they have two TV screens there, but seating is such that you really couldn’t see the screen. So I came back to my cabin to watch the Home Run Derby. I left just before 10 pm to run up for an ice cream cone. Wandered around a bit, ended up listening to some Latin music. Wandered some more through the casino, and into the corridor into The Manor. All those lights reminded me of the tunnel on Seashore, and some the mirrored corridors on Seaside. Then it was back to the cabin to see the end of the Derby. Tomorrow is Costa Maya and I plan to go ashore only far enough to get some pics of the ship. I was here 3 weeks ago on on Seashore. Essie has found a new friend. Rare Essiesmom Posted July 16 Author #29 Share Posted July 16 Another good night of sleep, though not as long. I went up to The Galley for breakfast and hit the taco place for eggs Benedict with ham. You order and get a pager. Didn’t take too long. The eggs were just slightly over cooked, probably from being cooked and then placed under heat. The very center of the yolk was still liquid. I’ll give them a 7.5. Then I had French toast, which was good but too much for me only nibbled at the second slice. We had land to starboard and probably docked by now. We are facing my next ship, MSC Magnifica. We were to dock ar 1000, leave at 6:30. These are ships time, as VV does not change the clocks for a one day, one hour difference. I wandered into the gym and got some pics. Got tired just seeing the activity. VV has a tablet in the cabin that can control the TV, room temp, lights, call for services, etc., etc. I understand there might be something similar on the Edge class of Celebrity. I’ll add a few pics and more when they have synced from the cloud.

Middleton dolls, and Essie is the cheapest they ever made. She has traveled with me since 2002. Her first overseas trip was to Iceland in 2003 and her first cruise was Greece in 2005. She has a substance abuse problem which she acquired in Iceland…she likes beer. She also likes the casino, mostly the flashing lights as she is unable to gamble with Monopoly money. If you happen to see us around the ship, give her a fist bump. Lol! Essie is certainly classier than our traveling companion, DingDing. (Although, in his defense, our cabin attendant loved him so much, she gave us a set of Nutcrackers- long past Christmas. We didn’t even ask!) 3
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 16 Author #33 Share Posted July 16 I took a mid morning snooze, dozing around the crew drill. After noon I gathered myself to go ashore. Straight ahead of us was MSC Magnifica, docked where I was on Seashore three weeks ago. At that time, the ship in our position was Enchantment of the Seas. I exited the ship, glanced to the left, and here comes Harmony of the Seas, just like three weeks ago. I continued on down the pier, making a right turn at Magnifica. Continued down maybe more than halfway, taking pictures as I went. Mostly guessing do to the bright sun. I started back, and when I got to the left turn toward the ship, there was a chain across the pier. Harmony was about to dock, and we waited 20” or so until all the lines were out. By that time there was a bunch of us, tired of waiting in the sun. The line moved slowly because they would let some in, then stop the line while others exited. It wasn’t that they only had one person beeping people out…they had two. But there was only one line. They had two gangways out, and had used tw initially, but now just using one. Onboard I went straight up to aThe Galley to rest and fill my bottle with iced tea. I had a few fries…not many, then proceeded on my picture taking pilgrimage. After the food displays, I went down to deck 5 and moved up from there. I will do the outside areas tomorrow or Bimini day. There were a lot of people at the pools today. Will post pictures when they have populated to the cloud. It’s Scarlet Night tonight. EM
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 17 Author #34 Share Posted July 17 The Solo Social met at 5:45 outside of Social Circle. Only 7 of us tonight. Three of us went to The Wave. Good food and delightful conversation. I had the filet, wedge salad and cheesecake. The Parkerhouse rolls are to die for. Now I have been wandering and people watching. I am amazed at the red I see. Everything from near formals to outfits that look like kids ballet costumes. And the men. One man was wearing a red T-shirt over red shorts from Buc-ees. I’m okay in my red T-shirt and red skort, but I don’t hold a candle to many others. And a few people with no red at all. EM

Rare Essiesmom Posted July 17 Author #36 Share Posted July 17 I try to add pictures with the commentary to give it some relevance, but since pics from my phone are painfully slow syncing to the cloud and therefore available to the iPad mini, I will just add them in groups and hope you aren’t too confused

Rare Essiesmom Posted July 17 Author #40 Share Posted July 17 I caught the story of the myth of Scarlet Night in the Roundabout last night, and again in the Dock House. I went up to deck 15 but the crowd was about 15 deep around the pool. I went up to 16 and it was about 4 deep at the railings. I took two pics over peoples heads. I walked forward and passed who I assume is the Diva in a roped off area at the railing, with a mic. First time I have seen her. I could hear the party going on later in my cabin on deck 13. Breakfast in the Galley not busy. Saw a couple, she in caftan, he in gray striped silk pajamas. Went out and walked decks 15 & 16. Decided not to do 17. Those pics are still loading to cloud.

Rare Essiesmom Posted July 18 Author #50 Share Posted July 18 Well, today was a not so good day, from an old lady standpoint. About 11ish I went up to the Galley to fill my bottle with iced tea. I saw a chocolate donut, so thought I’d give it a try. The donut was nearly a cake donut, and the chocolate was runny, like the stuff you dip fruit in. And dark chocolate. Mission accomplished, I don’t remember what I did I think I was back here still fighting with pictures. At 4pm I went to The Manor for the show Hostess Sings the Rules. The Hostess turned out to be the cast member Lydia we had met at the first solo meeting. It was very good, although there quite a few songs I didn’t recognize. I had a Diet Coke with lime. My problem started at the very end when I suddenly felt myself going into a dizzy spell. It’s happened before about four times, all but one time when I was sitting. All vital signs usually normal including sugar. Doctor says to lie down and put feet up. I laid on the banquette until I thought I could walk. Went as far as the bench by the doorway and sat some more. The crew affected to call medical but I didn’t want to open that can of worms. They got me a glass of OJ which I probably didn’t need, and I did an EKG on my Apple Watch which was more normal that usual. I sat there awhile, then moved to On the Rocks for awhile. Back in my room, I settled on the bed with feet planted on the wall, just to realize I was going to be sick. How kind of VV to make the bathroom so compact as to make it possible to sit on the toilet and vomit into the sink. Back to bed. My feet and hands were freezing, and a hot bath not being an option, I thought about the hot tubs…but no bathing suit. But then a little birds said I could warm up just by going outside. Which I did. I knew I was going to need to eat, so around 7:30 I went up to the Galley for a plate of Asian food. Afterward I wandered down to Social Club where trivia was in progress, and had a bag of popcorn. Then had three twizzlers. Down to On the Rocks for some music. Now I’m back in the cabin, lights out soon.
