Viking drink package

With the exception of my first cruise (I traveled with my mom, who doesn't drink), I've always had the SSBP. Sometimes it was an included perk and sometimes I've purchased it. I don't know whether it's fiscally responsible, especially on a port intensive trip, but I love the Chef's Table and the upgraded wines and the ability to try new things and enjoy a drink without thinking about cost.

I had it at dinner one night on the last cruise.  I wasn’t charged for it.

I always have an after dinner Sambuca in Manfredi's. Have yet to be charged for it after perhaps a half dozen or so occasions. No idea why.

Another thing to consider is what level of stateroom you have. We got back from a two-week cruise last week to Norway and were in a PV. We got small bottles of liquor as well as mixers in our complimentary mini-bar. It got restocked every day. We would have gin and tonic or scotch and ginger on our verandah before dinner. We did buy a few cocktails around the ship but our total onboard bill at the end of 14 nights was less than $125 (that also included a beard trim for me in the spa). If we had purchased the package at $25 per night per person it would have been $700. For us, that would have been a waste.

As far as at meals, we loved the Porter beer that they were serving, you can get dry rosé, and we enjoyed it with lunch and the reds and whites for dinner weren't wonderful but they were just fine.
