Unique Room Swap Question

Recommended Posts

So I've tried searching for this, but found nothing so far.

I will turn platinum on my 7th or 8th day of my next cruise. I already know it'll be for the whole cruise.

Going with my brothers in law, but they'll be in their own cabin. Everyone has some VIFP days, and no special promotions was used.

But when I booked it, I was 5 days away. Once I realized that, I booked a 4 day cruise last year so that we would hit platinum on this one.

So is it possible to swap rooms at this point so both cabins can board in the platinum group since it'll have one platinum in each? I have seen the way to swap it around once on board, but I can't find anything about swapping before so we can do that. I've asked my TA and he wasn't sure since he's never done that.

My final payment is due the 28th or so, and I wasn't sure if that would change anything so I wanted to find out for sure before I made the final payment. TIA

You can but that may affect the price of the cabins and there may be penalties for the changes. For example of Platinum guest A booked room 1, but now they're moving to room 2 - room 1 will have to be re-fared.

Definitely worth having your TA look into it, just to see how much it would cost (if anything).

Mz-s is correct.  The other option is to buy FTTF for one cabin.

I actually just did it for our upcoming cruise. My wife and I are turning platinum on the cruise, my daughter and her boyfriend are gold. So I talked to my carnival person and she switched the boyfriend into my cabin and my wife into my daughter’s cabin and now we all have priority check in and also priority on the tenders. No charge. Easy peasy. Every cabin is in one persons name and as long as that person stays where they are then there’s no fare difference to worry about. That’s why we switched my wife and my daughter’s boyfriend. They were the “second” occupants of each cabin.

Name changes come with fees

I didn’t change names. Only switched names of who’s in each cabin. Different than if you say Joe Smith can’t go so I’d like to drop him and add Jane Kyzenberg.
No fees.

we swap names of cabins all of the time through our PVP. One person in my room, then one in wifes room. Get onboard and get everyone back to the planned room. Everyone gets priority check in.

Depending on offers, fees can be charged

Agree with Elaine and May1 above.  OP is not yet at final payment anyway.   It's no different at this point if Passnger 2 was still TBA.  But FTTF works also for Cabin 2 which is what we did with our non Platinum friends on Panorama this month.
