Fouremco Posted July 24 #1 Share Posted July 24 This video deals with the landslide North of Skagway that has blocked the highway and the scenic railroad. Excursions taking these routes are cancelled until further notice.
Brian V Posted July 24 #2 Share Posted July 24 Saw that this afternoon...cue the cries of "We want compensation!" when the cruise lines cancel their excursions because the road and rail line are blocked 🙃
Rare ski ww Posted July 25 #3 Share Posted July 25 Were any tours caught on the other side of the landslide & couldn't get back to the ship?

Yes, passengers were caught on the other side, but they were bussed by the cruise lines to Haines where they would be picked up by their ships. This included a number of passengers who were on independent tours.

Rare david,Mississauga Posted August 10 #6 Share Posted August 10 I was in Skagway aboard Cunard's Queen Elizabeth on Saturday 27 July. Although we didn't take any excursions this time, the information we heard was that all booked tours were operating. The trains were running, although I don't know how far up the line they went. They obviously went as far as Summit because they had been turned when they arrived back in Skagway. The blockage must have been cleared quickly. 1
