Is there a way to use a secure wifi connection while on board?

Sojme do and some done but all use some form of encryption and are just as secure as the banking website. Those that require multi-factor authentications, such as sending you a code to enter to verify are more secure than those that do not.

Just a follow up question on your experience with two-factor authentication while on the ship? Were you able to receive a text if only using the ships wifi? This past April on Silhouette with premium wifi I was challenged with a text two factor and could not receive it. For this reason I prefer an authenticator app like Microsoft's over a text.

Kevin Reid

I was on 4 different ships in 2024 totaling 14 weeks. I used an iPhone 14 with AT&T WiFi calling enabled and I received texts in airplane mode. YMMV. It would be best to use an authenticator app if possible, switch to email 2FA if allowed, or disable 2FA. All the same choices as when you get a new phone number if you don't want to be locked out of some accounts.

I'd challenge you to demonstrate a single banking app that doesn't use https

I believe iPhone apps use Apt Transport Security.

Web applications use HTTPS.

Again Apple requires iOS app connections to be https. What Apt Transport Security does is enforce that the connection is https.
