CPAP users on the Eurodam

FYI on the Eurodam there is no electrical outlet near the bed.  They will provide an extension cord that goes from the desk across the floor and under the bed to your unit.  They place a rubber mat over the cord so you won't trip on the cord.  Distilled water is now $6.59 per gallon jug, higher than gas at the pump.  Last December I paid $3.25 for the same gallon.  It must be better quality water being used.

I just paid $2.95 for  a gallon distilled water for an upcoming trip. I guess they charge more when you're on board (not very nice of them!)

Actually, my TA ordered the distilled water and it was acknowledged by Shipboard services.  With a copy of the email to me.  And, as expected, the product was not delivered.  No explanation was provided.  HAL's customer service remains a misnomer.

And this is why I use tap water. Tap water on the ship essentials = distilled.

I bring my own non-surge protected extension cord.  I don't want to run into the chance that the ship won't have any available.

Exactly…$2.95 if you order pre cruise, $6.95 if you order on board.

 

i ordered in advance and there was a large jug of water in my cabin…at least a 2 gal jug.  Have you tried to fill a CPAP while lifting a 20 pound jug …. It’s not easy

I ordered 1 gallon each of distilled water for (2) 2025 cruises on HAL web page yesterday (9/12/24) for $2.95 each

After desalination they add back minerals to “improve” the taste. Not good for CPAP machines.

Glad I’ve never had to deal with the issue. My machine is about 4 years old, I use only tap water and have had no issue.

My CPAP just completed five years, wish I knew it would use tap versus distilled for the last year.  At five years you are eligible for a new machine with Medicare.  The problem now is there is still a supply problem and machines are difficult to come by according to my provider.  So while I am waiting I might just use tap water.

To connect my CPAP to a plug I use a method that was shown to me by a cabin steward.

 

We normally cruise in an inside cabin, which we prefer.  I would sleep on the side of the bed that is closest to the same wall as the TV.  The power cord (including my extension cord) is run along the wall, over any art work, and connected to the plug that is behind the TV.  The cord is supported by magnetic hooks attached to the wall.  

 

No cords on the floor, no tape, no tripping. We have used this method over several cruises no and it works every time.

 

I just pre-ordered two gallons of distilled water for an extended cruise that I was billed $2.95 each.

After you use tap water for a week, check your tank to see if you have any build-up on the metal plate. I found that our water, while good, does cause a film in the tank that needs to be scrubbed out every week.
