NYC: Carmel Car Service

Someone a while back mentioned using Carmel car service in NYC--any reviews? On time? Claen car? Luggage assistance? They're in the same price range as a taxi or rideshare from our mid-town Manhattan hotel to the Brooklyn cruise terminal.

I have used Carmel several times when visiting NYC.  No problems at all.  We will use them again when we are cruising on the Enchanted Princess out of Brooklyn next September.

Just know what you're getting and you'll be fine. Carmel and Dial7, which are the two bigger companies in NYC, don't own or operate their fleets. They are third party aggregators. They tend to be the right blend of quality and price. Most, if not all, of these drivers also drive for Uber and Lyft as well within their respective car's category (X, Black, etc). 

 

Sometimes you can schedule Carmel and Dial7 in advance for less than you can an Uber. Sometimes Uber is less than your scheduled price for Carmel/Dial7 if you request the car when you arrive and don't have a reservation. Just depends. 

 

Generally Carmel is reliable and clean-- nothing fancy but usually priced right. If you need a brand new car or specialized service a local brick and mortar car service or a company like Blacklane will provide that for a premium to Carmel.
