Casino Points Earning & Drinks On Us - Changes

Recommended Posts

I just returned from the Firenze and saw a couple of changes that I thought may interest some on here.

First, the points earning has changed from $2.50 = 1 point to $2.00 = 1 point on slots. I didn't play any video poker so I can't say how that was affected.

Second, the points required for Drinks On Us while playing in the casino has increased from 1500 points to 2000 points. This represents an increase of coin-in play from $3750.00 up to $4000.00 using the new earnings rate. A 9.3% increase.

I also did not receive any dinner upgrade comps until I hit 7000 points at which time I was offered the Steakhouse upgrade of 2 and a bottle of wine.

It will be interesting to see what my offers look like in the next round coming up.

Comps vary by sailing and ship.  Future offers are not based on points.  The point earning changes have been widely circulated.

We've recently sailed on the Firenze and I found that casino team to be a little more stingy with comps compared to other ships.  Hubby and I both lost quite a bit of money and I had over 19K in points during a 5 day cruise.  I was offered 2 for the steakhouse and when I mentioned another person in our party, they reluctantly came back and offered for 3 but we did not receive wine.

I am very grateful for any comps so I don't want to seem ungrateful but this ship seemed a bit tighter.  Our family sailed on the Panorama in May and they comped us 8 people in the steakhouse, without hesitation, and gave us 3 bottles of wine.

We'll be on the Firenze again in September so hopefully it goes well.  🙂

$4.000 for free drinks in casino and lose more. Cheaper stay out and buy cheers! LOL But we never do but cant beat just paying taxes and port fees for balcony cruises. What we lose works out to regular price of cruise. Not sure if its just me but dont matter where you play all tighter after covid???

I was on Venezia and the host told me comps were also based on losses and not play - my wife played more than me and was net positive, I lost and played less and they comped me $100 for sushi and a bottle of wine. Points were about at 3000 when I left a 4 day cruise. My wife had more points and got nothing…

i have gotten comps on sailings where i didn't lose, most recently on firenze in may 2024. who knows how they figure out the comps, not transparent at all. points do matter, but not linearly as you would expected (such as 10k pts get 2x the comps of 5k pts)
