Can you offer to be bumped from an overbooked cruise?

I know cruise overbookings are relatively rare, but a situation has come up where it's unlikely that my wife and I will be able to go on our 14 night sailing on Nieuw Statendam out of Athens on October 5th.

Rooms haven't been for sale for months, so I assume it's been sold out, and maybe even overbooked. Is it possible to offer to be bumped if needed? We have a GTY room that has not yet been assigned.

We would be happy to rebook some other time, and no one else would have to potentially be bumped. I've seen some pretty lucrative offers go out.

Anyone ever try this? I assume it's a long shot.

Have you contacted your PCC or TA?  Hopefully you will get a good offer to change cruises.  I will look forward to your reports.  Cherie

It's actually booked as a tier match from the casino.

We were so excited for this itinerary and to try HAL, so it would be a huge bummer to not be able to. I should know for sure by the end of the week whether we will have to cancel or not, so I plan on waiting until then before calling.

Without asking I recently received an offer to reschedule one of my Zuiderdam 7 day cruises. Several options were offered. I would have rescheduled but I was on a B2B. I don’t remember when I received the email but it was approximately 2 weeks before sailing. The offers went quickly because someone on our roll call had tried and all had been taken.

We are looking to do the same thing re our 25-day cruise from Athens.  Please report back when you hear of offers re your cruise.  Someone mentioned the offers begin around two weeks out.  I do not want to cancel, but circumstances may require it.

I will know for sure whether we can go or not in a week, so I plan on calling then. I'll report back after that.
