To everybody who has been on a cruise with RCCL

Recommended Posts

okey thanks for all the replies, it seems like people have spent much more money than I thought, so instead of the poll, just say like in average how much you spend for EACH person onboard the ship, then I mean SPA, casino, perfums, drinks, tip, etc...

Many thanks people!!

Tips on our 7 day cruise worked out to $68.25 per person, laundry services about $12.00 per person, casino $20.00 per person, $3.50 (not too sure the cost) coke at Johnny Rocket's, tours booked outside the cruiseship $75.00, internet useage in port $5.00, drinks in port $20.00......

I am surprised at how much people are spending. With spending so much on drinks you all should look into the more expensive lines that include all you can drink. Might work out to be closer in cost than you think.

For a lot of new cruisers seeing this thread they may feel it is too pricey to try. I can tell you it is less than that if you do your own excursions (poster did say not counting this). We rent cars and do the beaches...lunch.

Our upcoming cruise, again on Mariner in Oct we are taking a tour (privately done, not with the ship) since the price of the tour is about the same as renting a car. We also bring some wine with us and some drinks to mix with the lemonade and the ice tea and the oj. So we do keep costs down. Got to if I want to cruise yearly. Have a great cruise no mater what you spend. Coffee can be free, ice cream can be free, and so much food that you do not have to buy. It is personal choice. Enjoy all!

I go to the beach every year with my family. I am single...by "family", I mean parents, brothers, SILs and their kids. It's usually about $600 ea a week for the house (this is where the ones with kids get a break, and I get hosed....only the adults pay, and as a single person, I always end up as the only adult with a kid in the room, sharing a bathroom with the rest of the kids (while everyone else gets the adult accomodations). Score one for a cruise for me! To put it in perspective, this is like cruising in an inside cabin on deck two and paying the same as those in the suites!

Then, I have to drive there, bring not only food and booze, but also housegoods (soaps and detergents, sheets, towels, TP, etc....). Add to that the fact that we have to cook and clean up. Oh, and there are at least two or three dinners out during the course of that week.

Short story made long....a cruise is an incredible vacation value. It was 13 years ago when I first went, and it still is...even moreso. And I never once have brought my own booze on board (and drink a load of it!) :)

I, for one, am not going to sugar-coat the fact that I spend a solid $1000+ while onboard to avoid scaring people away. :p

11. more than 400 $ - WITHOUT A DOUBT. IF YOU DO BETTER - I WILL BE JEALOUS. WE USUALLY SPEND ABOUT $500 PER PERSON. WE DON'T EVEN DRINK THAT MUCH.

Last Cruise: $8000 with gambling and art auction!

But mostly for 7 day cruises: $300-$1500.

Nothing to be afraid of, you can be pretty flexible with your budget and still have a great time. It's based on your available cash and your moods.

Don't have lots to spend? Fine. If you can afford the cruise you can actually spend almost nothing additional and still enjoy!

For me and DW we usually spend about $500 each on 7 days. that doesn't include any jewelery bought on shore because then she spends all $1000 or more herself in St Thomas almost every year.
