What do the Slots eat?

Recommended Posts

Cash is king and it's gone forever. I love to gamble, in small doses and I never wing yang on cruise ship slots. I always plan to "just say no." but then I play some craps and there the machines sit, there sensual "you can win Nancy, really" call has the power to take my will and stomp it into the red carpet along with the beer stains. I put in one, two, three or more dollars and then...

I am once again reminded why I never play slots. Until I am once again butt at craps table, up a little bit and they call my name one more time.

Stupid machines. Usually I get smart in about 20 bucks and never lose much but still...

Are there different machines for different denominations, you know, $1, $5, $10 and so forth? Is there actually such a thing as a quarter slot machine? I've never been to a casino, and I'm kind of looking forward to it ~ I don't want to be stupid, though, so I want to get as much info as I can before we go. :)

There are quater machines, nickel machines, dollar machines, but all of these can be operated with the coins as well as with bills of different denominations ($1, $5, $10, etc.)

All different denominations. Just feed some bills into them, rather than quarters. You're going to want to bet the max on some anyway for the best payouts. I don't think there are any nickel machines and I know there are no penny slots.

You know you should just save your money and go to VEGAS BABY! Then you can cruise AND hit the strip! (Guess what my other favorite destination is?)

Just a hint at what machine to play. It is a quarter machine called X factor. You have to play 3 quarters a pull. The jackpot gets higher as you play it. It starts out a 2X and works its way up to 8 or 9 X for the jackpot. It is usually ready to pop at 7,8 or 9 times the prize. Don't waste your quarters before that. Let someone else feed it. I won on it quite a few times, once $480.00. Start playing it when it says 7, 8 or 9 times. Good luck.

Depends on the ship. My guess is that there will definitely be nickel machines and there is a possibility there will be penny ones as well as the company upgrades the machines at periodic intervals.

Three days, that's my Las Vegas limit. By then I have seen the shows I want to see (NOT Celine), played craps and won (I am pretty lucky with craps), played some poker and done pretty well (I ain't no Phil Helmuth, well I am a woman, but I do alright) and heard the stupid sirens song of those darn slots, cursing myself as I drop my money down their greedy throats.

In other words; I've laughed, I've cried, I've kissed a few hundred bucks goodbye. That place is the most fun you can have and not be on a cruise ship.

Warning: Offer good for people who adore Carnival, three day cruises that party, some RCI ships (but not the Raidiance Class) and some Celebrity cruises. Those who adore quiet ships and small groups of people need not apply.

There are no nickel slots on Voyager class ships. I was limited to the quarter slots! Payouts are lousy too! BTW, I don't remember any nickel slots on Majesty or Monarch either, but that was too long ago!

Well, living in Vegas and working in a casino I'm not sure how much I'll actually gamble. I do want to play live poker as I'm a bit intimidated to start in a poker room here but I don't think they have it on the Monarch. I may play some roulette, though. Who knows.

SakeDad: It's funny that you say that... I've never played a live hand of anything and have lived in Vegas for about 35 years! This was a great question, because, as you know, most, if not all slots in Vegas now, don't take "change"! It's actually a great idea from the perspective of the casinos because it "forces" you to use bills!

Now I have a reason to take some of my quarters with me!!!:D

Happy sailing,

Dona

I have been lucky on ships slots. Last week I went on the day cruise to Freeport and I hit on a machine called triple play and got 2 triple play symbols that paid 81 times the amt. won and won 1215.00 and after they paid me, about 10 mins. later I hit on the 10 times machine for 750.00, 2 symbols came up and paid 100 times the amt. showed!!!! Was I happy? YES! Lucky? No, BLESSED!!!
