Hey Canucks, has anyone here booked with an american based company?

If so, how did you find the expirience?

Do you think that booking with a US TA still gives you the protection (laws and their policies, ect.) that you would get from a TA in Canada?

 

I need the advice because I want to book my cruise, but the TA I have been dealing with is in the US and her prices are great (even with the conversion). But my future MIL has a TA here, whose prices are 200$ pp higher. She thinks that dealing with a TA from the states won't give me the security and peace of mind that a local TA will bring, :confused: and that the extra 200$pp is worth the extra protection...

 

Thoughts, opinions???

If you live in Ontario, dealing with a registered Ontario TA provides protection under the Travel Industry Act. Check the link below for info. You won't have protection under Ontario consumer laws if you use a U.S. TA. I don't know what protection U.S. laws might offer you (if any).

If you book through an Ontario based TA you will still be covered under TICO.

I find a cruise, at a price that I like on the net, in US funds, I then take the info to my gal at BCAA, and say 'Meet it or beat it'. She usually does just that!
