Shipboard credit for stockholders?

If you own 100 or more shares of CCL stock you quality for a ship board credit for cruises 5 days or more. The amount of credit depends on the number of days of your cruise. An average 7 day cruise gets $100 per cabin. I am at home and I keep all my information at work. I normally fax my request a day or two after I made final payment. Basically as soon as the Final payment form HAL appears on my credit card (I check it on line) This past time when we received our documents there was nothing noted in our Docs about shipboard credit. I had two coming to me, one for having booked the cruise on the Maasdam last year and the other for the CCL stock. My TA called and they said they only showed the shipboard credit for the booking made on the Maasdam. This was the first time they had not credited the CCL stock. On the advise of my TA and speaking with them I refaxed my information showing proof of my stock and within a couple of days my TA called back and the credit was showing. If someone else does not answer I can post the fax number tomorrow morning when I get to work.

Our TA has a record of the fact that we own Carnival stock. When she sends in our final payment, she also takes care of the shipboard credit. HAL checks to make certain that people still own the stock - they have records.

Whenever we do back-to-back cruises, we use the Carnival stock for one segment and AMEX Plat for the other segment.

Boy has anyone checked recently to see what Carnival stock is selling for - $47 a share.

I spoke with someone in reservation administration the other day before faxing the request. She requested that the request include the booking number, the sailing date, and the itinerary. I have a "fill in the blanks" cover letter set up to make it easy. I just fax that and a copy of my proxy card to 206 298-3059.

I just did it with RCCl. They have a bit better deal. 9 to 13 day cruise si $200. 14 day cruise is also $250. 6 to 8 days is $100. I am sailing on a reduced rate on the Mercury next Monday. Not a special rate, just a discounted rate via the cruise line. They gave me the $200 credit.

I notice the above restrictions state that "...anyone cruising on reduced-rate...basis are excluded from this offer".

Would the $100 s/b credit be available to a shareholder on a CC group cruise?

Most of the time you will get it. I never pay rack price and always book at a discount. Only once was I turned down. I booked a last minute cruise at an unbelievalbe rate for an S. The TA did try to get it for me but the rate was so low Hal would not allow it.

I remember reading there was one other person who posted here that got turned down once also.

I did a group cruise once and received the credit.

In addition to the 7-day CC group cruise in October, we'll also be doing the 14-day holiday sailing of the Prinsendam. A $250 s/b credit would be very nice, indeed, especially since no promos have been/are being offered for this cruise. Thanks to all of you for the info.

If you book a suite using a AMEX Platinum card and if you own stock in CCL can you request and receive both the AMEX credit and the Shareholders credit for a total of $400.00 in credits?

John

Yes, I just did it for our Maasdam cruise. No problems.

Iceman you got LUCY. KK has tried to do this and hal would not allow it. I believe that things "slip through" sometimes.

I would not count on getting this combined on every cruise.

We also got a free parking promotion (~$140 value) added to the reservation after final payment with no problems.

Now I have to admit that we were paying full fare for the PS, so that may have had something to do with it, but I'd like to think that HAL's customer service is independent of cabin category.

  • 2 weeks later...

I got credits for two out of three of my upcoming cruises.

Princess would not give me the entire amount as I had another credit already being given to me from my travel agency. But Princess did make it a credit to the cabin, not to me, so by splitting it between the two passengers, I only am not getting $25.

HAL gave me full benefit for the Hawaii cruise, but they invoked the

"some restrictions apply" and I am not getting anything for the Holiday cruise.

So this time, I am two-thirds happy.

From what I recall it is usually split. The credit is not per person but per cabin.

I question that I have'nt seen asked... do they let you use the onboard credit more than once a year if you have 2 or 3 cruises scheduled during a calendar year? Thankyou.

YES, I purchase my stock in October 2004 and have received it on EVERY cruise since. Nov 2004, March 2005, July 2005, October 2005, February 2006 and I have confirmed I have it for my cruise next week.:)

Two remarks; It USED to be listen in your documents as a voucher; THAT NO LONGER is done!

IF you are doing B2Bs -it can be claimed for BOTH cruises if they have separate booking numbers!!!!

Yes- you can claim it for several cruises each year; EACH cruise is considered SEPARATELY. You must own 100 shares or more. The info is in your Carnival Stockholder reports [ March] and is applied from July to July.

The caveat "restrictions" may apply . . . does a holiday sailing (Christmas/New Year's) not qualify?

It didn't for me. I actually called them in Seattle and verified that I would be getting it for Hawaii, but not for Mexico. The reason I was given was

that it was the holiday cruise and didn't apply.
