Can gambling be signed to our ship account card?

Okay...we're not big gamblers, but Bob likes to dabble in blackjack and I like to leave my donation in the slot machines. Always fun to give it a try, ya know?

Does Celebrity allow passengers to post gambling cash advances to your ship account card? The less cash I have to take along the better, although I do plan on using cash for my tips, rather than the vouchure system they offer. Is there a fee charged (like ATM's have) to sign gambling money to your ship account?

Thanks for any insight. We appreciate the cashless system on cruise ships. It means we need to take less money from home, and it's safer while wandering around the ship. Heck, we should only need cash for smaller item on-shore purchases, tip money for the staff, and a bit for other out of pocket stuff.

Can hardly wait until May 8 on the Mercury.

Hi Jean ~ I have gotten cash from the casino's office and the cash was charged to my ship board account. I understand X does not charge a fee for that, but Carnival charged 3% last September. I too like Black Jack;)

and there is no charge on Celebrity. Maximum is somewhere around $2000 per day. Assuming you use a credit card to back up your shipboard account all charges are sent in at the end of the cruise as a purchase. Therefore you get miles or whatever incentives are available on the card for the money taken from the casino.

Actually - getting cash at the casino cage makes the most sense and yes, it is simply added to your ship-board charges. I do this every time we cruise because there is no charge to get cash this way and it allows us to travel without carrying a lot of cash. (Besides - I ALWAYS spend more than I intend in casino!!)

And as my name implies, so do I:eek:

Thanks, fellow cruisers. It's nice that Celebrity allows passengers to sign their gambling endeavors to their ship board account without a fee. We don't gamble much, but what we do, we fully expect to leave in the casino. It will be our "slush fund money for on-board entertainment". Ha! We plan on trying our hands at bingo, too. I know that can be signed to our account because we have done that on previous Celebrity sailings.

I hear ya regarding the easy accessibility of funds. My heart goes out to those that gamble from addiction and not entertainment. It is a horrendous illness. For the rest of us, though, it is a nice convenience.
