dwoolfe Posted April 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2006 We are sailing on the Coral Princess, on July 31st 2006. Since this is our first time to Alaska we want to know about alernative (to the Princess line)reputatable companies that provide excursions in Alaska. Can we book ahead of time? We would also like to hear about your favorite excursions. Thank you

judynorth Posted April 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2006 Our favorite excursion was the floatplane trip to Taku Lodge from Juneau. We booked through Princess and it was expensive (but just a few $$ more than booking independently). Our second favorite ( and by far the cheapest) was renting a car in Skagway and driving into the Yukon. That cost less than $100 for 4 of us. We really enjoyed the freedom of being able to stop at every overlook and take our time and the drive is easy even if you are a real flatlander. Do check the Alaska boards. There is a wealth of information there. We were on the Coral. It is a wonderful ship.
Budget Queen Posted April 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2006 In order to get independent tour sites, you need to select the tours. :) Then find the venders. So I suggest you look over your shore excurison list and narrow down your interests, then repost. You will get specific information direct. For more information if you want to look via the tour route, then request each city's visitor guide and look over the ads. http://www.traveljuneau.com http://www.skagway.com http://www.visit-ketchikan.com
