Sushi

@ European ... don't worry, the Sushi on Galaxy and Century was marvelous, about 10 different kind (not too much choice), but each excellent, and the Miso soup is just delicious (as almost all the food on X).

Sushi on Constellation was amazing, delicious, and plentiful. The variety was great and the quality was extremely high.

Plenty of wasabee and soy sauce, as well as ginger.

They had wonderful boat shaped dishes that held plenty of helpings along with a little resevoir for soy/wasabee.

The misso soup should not be missed. It too is wonderful.

Enjoy.

I'd never tried sushi before my cruise on Infinity last month. Well, did I get hooked! It quickly became routine for me every evening to run up to deck 10, grab one of those boat dishes, fill-up, then bring it all back down to munch on in my cabin, along with my first cocktail of the evening, while preparing to dress for dinner .... hmmmmmm - best hors d'oeurves ever!

Try it!

Sushi on Mercury was similar to grocery store quality. Ok, but nothing special at all.

However, I have been eating sushi for over 20 years and know the good stuff. For novices, or those who equate sushi with CA rolls, it is likely just fine.

Is actual raw fish served on Celebrity? When I cruised Carnival, all of their "sushi" was cooked...

To help.....the folks that don't understand...."Sushi" means served with rice. Fish may be raw, smoked, cooked or marinated. Also the rice must be prepared a certin way.

It seems you yourself from your question have indulged in "Sushi". I cannot remember it being raw.

Titan(ic)5.6,

I beg to differ. I saw many fishing lines off the stern of the ship the last time we cruised and the fish was very fresh....:D

When we were on the Millennium, they had both raw and cooked sushi. They didn't have a wide selection, and as the cruise got to the end, they ran out of a few items. The sushi was made fresh and though not as great as our local favorite place, it was darn good.

With late dinner, we loved coming back from a port, showering, and then heading down to sushi, a drink and sitting at the aft listening to the music......ahhhh, I wish I was there right now!!

I'm another who loved getting my early evening sushi fix. I'm not a connoisseur. The Century's sushi was great to me.

I just found out a few weeks ago while listening to The Splendid Table on Public Radio that I've been eating sushi wrong. I love the wasabi and mix it in with soy sauce. Here's a link to the April program listings. It was the April 15 show.

Hi Everyone !

We enjoy sushi before dinner most every night we are on the Cruise. We have found it to be excellent. If you like sushi, you will probably enjoy it.

Sushi may also be vegetables on rice. Celebrity serves raw tuna, salmon and last time out tilapia. Cooked they served surimi (fake crab), shrimp and eel. The chef and I became fast friends and as soon as he saw me approach, my sashimi platter was prepared. It was lots of fun, if not too varied.

DH and I love sushi and just came back from our first Celebrity cruise (4/9-4/16). We had early seating for dinner, would finish around 7:30pm and we would head up to the sushi bar. They have these boat shaped dishes (somewhat long/narrow). We would each make a plate, run them to our room where we kept them in the fridge (yes two of these plates would fit!) Did our evening activities (show, casino, drinks, T-Pool, etc) and when we got back to the room we would get into our robes, sit on the balcony and have our sushi.....LOVED IT!!
