Rare Lois R Posted May 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2006 :) Hi, I was not sure where to post this thread but since it is the PACIFIC NORTHWEST area I guess this will be ok. I have to send out BIG KUDOS:D to the CITY CONCIERGE DESK of Seattle. They have been a pleasure to talk with and have helped me IMMENSLEY with my plans. First, I am visiting Seattle for my very first time (as well as my first Alaskan cruise) and I am not arriving till late (after 11pm). The gals at the Concierge Desk were just fabulous for me. They recommended a transportation service and even booked the reservation for me. For 50 bucks the driver is meeting me inside the Delta Baggage Claim area! And taking me to my hotel of course;) And now for the post cruise portion. I just didn't know what to do because my flight is not leaving until 11:30pm..taking the redeye home. Anyway, I was told that the Pier (66) has storage available for luggage all day! 2.00 bucks a bag!...How good is that? I was trying to figure out another hotel..but didn't need one for overnight. Well, I can store my baggage at the Pier and they said it needs to be picked up by 4:00pm. So I will go sightseeing for the day! And have my luggage secured. Then....when I pick up the luggage, I was told there is an area at the airport called "PACIFIC MARKETPLACE" and it sounds great! I can get dinner, relax, read a book and there is a place called "Ken's Storage" and I can leave my luggage there while having dinner, etc.! This plan sounds marvelous and I want to thank the City of Seattle..the Concierge Desk and all who helped with getting these things in place!!!! I don't have to worry now what to do all day after we come back into port~it definitely eases the mind. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL:) I love Seattle before even visiting!!! Rare Lois R Posted June 6, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Hi, sorry, I should have posted about my time in Seattle when I got home. It was WONDERFUL:) I arrived at the airport at 11:15pm and when I got down to to the Delta Baggage Claim area there was a driver waiting for me:D My last name was written on a big piece of cardboard! The driver was very nice and it was well worth the 50.00. I stayed at the Renassiance downtown and it was very nice but quite high up on a hill. Next time I am in Seattle I am going to pay the extra money and stay at the Edgewater! Right next to the Celebrity Pier!!! I met friends from my sailing for a pre-cruise dinner at "Elliott's By The Pier" and we all had a really nice time. I did sightseeing that day too. Went on the "Greyline Double Decker" Bus tour for 20 bucks! It was an all day thing and you hop on and off at your leisure. EXCELLENT:) Had lunch at Pike's Market and just a really, really good time. Left my bags at the pier on the last day and did some more sightseeing for the day. I had to stay at the airport for a very long time though. I flew home on the redeye so didn't leave Seattle till 11:45pm. I had a good book though and ate dinner at Pacific Marketplace. Thanks for your Northwestern Hospitality..everyone was very welcoming:)
