dancer 2 Posted May 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Booked on a b2b on the Crown, 1 leg is clockwise starting at San Juan and going to St. Thomas etc, 2nd leg is counter clockwise going from San Juan to Aruba etc. Have always had port balconys and was on the port side when in port - makes sense? Now for the ?? When "parking" the ship which side will face the land??
mozfoz Posted May 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2006 It depends on which way the front of the ship is pointing! :D
TEXASMUNK Posted May 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2006 When ships always docked (not parked ..LOL) port side. Those days are long gone. Today, with bow thrusters and azapods, ships can literally turn circles so one week you might dock port side the next week starboard (not starport LOL) depending on others ships in port, etc. One never knows...the thrill of discovery! Bon Voyage!

Nliedel Posted May 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2006 It all depends on the captains whim, the conditions of the port and expected sea traffic at deptature time. In other words, your guess is as good as mine.
cherylandtk Posted May 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2006 ROFL Oh gee...From the wording of the title I was hoping this would be a cruising vs. space-travel discussion:p
Druke I Posted May 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2006 It has little to do with "captain's whim" as another poster stated, but does have a lot to do with pier, tides, winds, volume of traffic, etc. Starport - are we talking Starship Enterprise here?
