Need Haines Shore Excursion Help

We are docked in Haines from 6:30 am until 9:00 pm. I have my family of 4 booked on the Glacier Bay Wildeness Safari through HAL from 10 am until 3pm. Should I book a second shore excursion or spend time in Haines? We could book the 4x4 tour from 4-8pm through HAL. The day before is strictly cruising so energy won't be an issue.

There will be plenty of tour operators there when you arrive. We went from Skagway to Haines a few years ago and picked up a tour along the highway all the way past the salmon weir to the lake for $10.00 each. Well worth the wait to get there. Guide was an older gentleman with a white beard and he was excellent. There will be others there as well. It is worth waiting to arrive as opposed to booking on ship.
