kstwo728 Posted May 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2006 We are thinking about booking dinner at David's on Friday of our cruise, as this would be our 1 week wedding anniversary!!! :D From what I understand, this is the 2nd formal night. What would we be missing if we booked David's on the formal night?? Should we not book on formal night or will we have better luck getting a reservation? Thanks :)
luvz2run2000 Posted May 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2006 It fills up fast on formal nights and sea days. Make the reservation as soon as you get on board. I would make it my first stop, especially if you really want a specific day. It would be a nice upscale way to celebrate your anniversary. You'll be dressed up and it is a very romantic dining experience. Think quiet table for two with live music playing in the background. You can even dance between courses if you want. The first formal night is lobster night so you won't be missing that, even though David's has much better lobster.
Cuizer2 Posted May 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2006 I've been on the Pride and I have eaten at the David Supper Club. I just did the same on the Glory. Yes, the diner in the Supper Clubs is very good. However, in my opinion, it is not $30 per person better than what you will get in the main dining room. LHP Posted May 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2006 I did not eat at David's when we were on the Pride last month, but I have not heard anything negative. Just be aware that it is a dining "event", which means about 2 1/2 hours from what I have heard.
spookwife Posted May 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2006 would a port day be easier to get reservations at than a sea day? I really wanna do Formal Nights inthemain DR cuz I actually got Mr Spook to agree to Mess dress and I wanna show him off to as many as possible!;)
neetyl Posted May 15, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 15, 2006 We have been on the Pride twice and will be on Board again Aug.6. Davids is fa r superior to the dining room fare and the $30 PP is nothing vs the quality of the food and service,if we could we would go to Davids nightly forget the dining room
vaitape Posted May 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2006 Why isn't the quality of the food in the main dining room just as good? Guess I don't get Carnival....... Marginal room service food, acceptable buffet-food court food, better dining room food, but for $30 more per person, you get the food that really tastes good? neetyl Posted May 15, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2006 The food in the Main Dining room is good but it is like comparing your dining experience between having dinner at CoCo's/Black angus vs a higher end restaurant like Mortons/Ruth Chris. wwakla Posted May 15, 2006 #10 Share Posted May 15, 2006 First congrats on your upcoming wedding. Davids was spectacular. Yes the food was better but I assume this is due to the lack of dinners being prepared at one time. David's has its own kitchen. Go and enjoy yourself. Once we boarded we went to our cabins dropped our bags and headed to the atrium where there was a table set up for sign-ups. We thought it was well worth the extra $. The service, ambiance and overall everything was just above and beyond. Enjoy and have a great honeymoon.
tess2cruz Posted May 15, 2006 #11 Share Posted May 15, 2006 I actually preferred the food in the dining room! I am with pppiglet on this one. Food was comparible to the DR food, only a couple of things you couldn't get, like crab cakes, and cavier at $40/ounce!!! Service was not good at all, and my son is a fine dining waiter so I do know what good is. I enjoyed the personal touch of the DR staff, and wished we hadn't wasted the money. Also, the DR Staff never charged us the corkage fee for our wine we brought each night, though they were supposed to. The Davids staff charged for both the wine and the champange. No more supper clubs for me.

fishinglady Posted May 16, 2006 #16 Share Posted May 16, 2006 We were on the Pride last October. I didn't think the 2nd formal was anything more than another chance to dress up - which you could still do & go to David's. We loved David's - my daughter (who's 25) initially thought it was a dumb idea, when the dining room was free. However, we (5 of us) loved our evening there - incredible food, great service and they had a guy and gal singing who were awesome. I don't think you're miss anything, but if it means that much, make the reservation for Thursday and enjoy both nights. That's what we did, but I'd happily book Friday and skip the formal night. - I'm just hoping the Conquest has something similar for our trip this year! serene56 Posted May 16, 2006 #20 Share Posted May 16, 2006 I agree with Fred-- the second formal night for the supepr club.. But you will have to dress with a jacket that night in the supper club. THe second formal night is not as great as the first one.. (head to the supper club to make your reservation. you can pick your own table by going there directly comapred to calling from your cabin or visiting the hostess in the atrium. Tables by the windows will get passerbys looking in. (the table by the fire exiti is awesome.. almost kind of private. no one behind you on one side. a

2munchkins Posted May 16, 2006 #23 Share Posted May 16, 2006 I would also like to make reservations at David's. I would like it to be one of the at Sea day's but not one of the formal nights. The at sea days are Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. Does anyone know which of those days are the formal nights? Thanks!
tootsiescurly Posted May 16, 2006 #24 Share Posted May 16, 2006 My DH and I just got off the Pride on Sunday. We went to David's twice - Wednesday and Friday. It was well worth every penney that we spent!!! Wednesday was nice because most people were in Puerto Vallarta. Friday was not very crowded. Our reservations both nights were for 8 pm. Neither night was fully booked. The dining room menu for Friday was not that spectacular. You still have to dress up for David's on formal nights, so you will not be missing an occaision to dress up. Spend the money!!! You will not regret it!!!
Astronomer Posted May 16, 2006 #25 Share Posted May 16, 2006 As I understand it The first formal night is Monday night ( first full sea day ) The second formal night is Friday ( after Cabo ) So my plan was to Book Davids on Tuesday night, so I wouldnt miss either of the Formal nights
