Pride Go Go

I just purchased a Pride Go Go Elite Traveller 4 wheel scooter. As this is my first scooter, I'm nervous about flying with it, especially when we have layovers.

Also, how does it work getting on or off the ship? Sometimes the gangway can be very steep. We have two cruises booked, Sept to Alaska and January to the Carribbean.

Has anyone travelled with this scooter before?

Can someone offer advice?

Thanks for all your help

Toni

Hi Toni,

We bought a Pride Ultra Go Go 4 wheel last summer for our B2B Hawaii/Mexico cruises. Here's the picture: http://www.spinlife.com/Pride-Go-Go-Ultra-4-Wheel-Travel-Scooter/spec.cfm?productID=73238

Looks like the Elite is an upgrade.

You will love this scooter! Just make sure you practice a little with it beforehand. Drive it up to the door of your plane and they will take it from you and give it back when the flight lands. There's lots of info in the questions I asked before we took our first flight with it.

Make sure the scooter is set at slow speed when coming down the ramps. Ask for help if you feel uncomfortable.

Hope this helps. Ask away if you have more questions.:)

Thanks for all the information you lead me to. I've just read through it all and there are so many good tips. I'll bookmark it all to read again and again.

I've had my scooter since the beginning of April and have had a chance to try it out several times (at the casino! LOL)

On both of our cruises we have booked suites so space in the cabin won't be an issue. I'm not sure if Carnival will allow me to take it on a tender so I may have to skip a port which won't be the end of the world.

We are flying to Vegas next week and I guess I'm just nervous because it's the first time flying with it. We also have two stops which bothers me too. (Never had two stops before as we usually fly Southwest)

I'll let you know how we make out and if I think of any more questions I'll post again.

Gosh, I love this board...so much information!

Good Luck Toni! You'll have a great time. We had no problems with the scooter and flying. Make sure they pick it up from the rear handhold-not the seat. I took marker and wrote our name and address under the battery in marker. Also bought a bicycle chain for it. Never used it. I'm sure the ship will let you tender. My husband can walk some down the steps and they carried the scooter onto and off the tender.

Bon Voyage!

Thanks Judy for all your help.

I called the airline today and they told me I had the choice of whether or not to check my scooter all the way through to Vegas or to ride it to the plane door where they will have it waiting each time we deplane.

I've decided to make sure that the scooter is on each plane with me (we have two stops YUCK) so I'll have it waiting for me each time we get off the plane.

I figure after this trip I'll be a pro!

I'll let you know how I make out next week.

Toni :D

Good idea, Toni. You can ride it around while you wait for your connecting flight. Independence is wonderful!!!

Let us know how you make out.

  • 2 weeks later...

We returned yesterday from our Las Vegas trip.

I had no problems at all with the airline. I drove my scooter right down to the door of the plane, left it there and when we arrived at our destination the scooter was waiting at the plane door for me.

So easy...

In Alaska you may have problems with the gangways as they have have very large tides. If they don't change the gangway deck sometimes it can be very steep. Heck, sometimes even if they don't change the gangway deck it can be very steep! You can roll off in the AM and come back to find a very steep gangway. If the scooter won't make it up, ask the crew for a manual wheelchair and have them push you up the gangway.
