Seattle suggestions?

We are scheduled on HAL cruisetour 28. We will be arriving in Seattle on June 13 and spending the night in an airport hotel (don't know which one yet) and then flying to Juneau very early the next morning. We are due in Seattle at 11:30 a.m. so we will have a chunk of the afternoon and all evening to sightsee. Does anyone have suggestions? This is my first visit-should we try renting a car for the day or is there public transportation we could take? What are the must-sees? Any help will be deeply appreciated. ;)

Take the city bus to downtown, from the airport there is an express bus outside of baggage claim that I have taken several times. I understand the tunnel is now closed??? The buses from the airport hotels are local buses that do take more time. They have a very helpful web site, King County Metro http://transit.metrokc.gov/
