Deep Sea Fishing

Can anyone recommend a good company to do some deep sea fishing in Aruba? I want to surprise my husband with this, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We did a 1/2 day trip in April of this year and had a great time. We booked on the internet with the Teaser group.

http://www.worldwidefishing.com/aruba/b428/index.html?page_type=salt&state_page=aruba&company=Teaser+Charters+N.V.

The boat is a ten minute walk from the cruise pier. The price was reasonable and we had the 38' Bertram all to ourselves.

They have two boats we were on Kenny's Toy. Although fishing was a bit slow we caught 2 wahoo and a mahi-mahi.

From time to time Aruba offshore is pretty windy. We had a really nice day.

Can you tell me how much you paid for this? Thanks!

The 1/2 day trip with tackle/lures/bait furnished was $300 + tip. The crew keeps the fish. The rate is the same for one to four fishermen/women.

We found this rate to be less than almost anywhere else we have fished for a boat of this size.

Have fun

The $300 gets you the boat, crew of 2, /lures/bait/etc. for 1/2 day fishing trip.

It is for the 38' Bertram sportsfisher and NOT per person.

You can get more info at their internet site.

Go catch 'em

This is what I got from Teaser:

Hi Susan:

Appreciate much your e-mail and be advised that we do run Half Day at US$ 300.00 and Full Day at US$ 600.00 for the boat with either 1 or 2 couple (1 - 4 guests) and if you are able to get the Aruba Plus Card we will be able to allow a 10% online discount through direct booking and you can use the Card for many other discounts available at different establishment in town. End October, November, December, January, February and March is the best time for the Billfish. Last two weeks of October is when normally the season for the Billfish and Pelagic Fish starts, depending on whether we do have Hurricanes or Depression in the Caribbean during the Season, if not this will start in November or mid February, which happened this year. Time Frame for May next year should bring the Wahoo, Mahi (Dolphin), Albacore Tuna, small and large Bonitos and occasional the Blue Marlin, Sailfish and White Marlin.

Link to Hotels, Apartments etc., in Aruba: http://www.aruba.com/pages/accommodations.htm SEARCH this link.

.

We run Half day from 08.00 – 12.00 or 13.00 – 17.00 lt or Full day from 08.00 – 16.00 lt

and operate the Bertram 35’s “KENNY’S TOY” and the “TEASER” located at the BALI Pier

right in downtown between the Renaissance Resort and the Seaport Marina.

The BALI Pier has two Blue phone boot, hanging, for long distance calls using Credit Cards.

Get it at: http://www.visitaruba.com/plus (Aruba Plus Card). We do not use stand-up gear as waters are usually somewhat choppy, although we do use our gear to fight standing up when weather conditions permit. We no longer supply sandwich on board during Full day and suggest getting at the Hotel a Lunch Box without Oranges (has much citric acid and can be real bad for the stomach) and cannot accept any confirmation without the requested Credit Card Number and Expiration date by FAX:

We are docked at the Bali Pier, right across the Renaissance Resort (Crystal Casino) and next to the Seaport Marina and Casino and only 12 minutes walk from the Cruise Ship Terminal. We do not join guests to split the Charter Price, because of the many problems experienced in the past. No brochures are available as our web-site http://www.teasercharters.com/ has all the information and pictures needed and consists of 4 pages.

Catch the fish first, and our crew will cut a good fillet of fish so you can enjoy this at the Restaurant we recommend or use it at your apartment. Be advised that we do not have price per person, but the boat is chartered by a party (1 - 4) for one price and on Half day each additional 5 or 6 we charge US$ 30.00 extra each. Up to a maximum of 6.

Please advise whether morning or afternoon is chartered and how many persons will be on board. Hotel, Room Number upon arrival, Home/Work Phone Number, Fax Number and amount of persons on board will always be required when requesting a booked confirmation.

So welcome on board. No license required for fishing and we do have Captain and Mate with you and all Billfish will be caught and released, and if mounting is required, the crew will get the measurement and estimate the weight and if a camera is available also take a picture for the Taxidermist. Under no conditions will the crew be permitted to have the Billfish killed or captured and only the Captain will make the last decision as to whether release or not the general Pelagic Fish (edible ones). For reservations we do require information/authorization of either a Visa, Master Card or American Express to secure same and once you get to Aruba you can pay Cash, CCard or Travelers Check. We need the Hotel where you will be staying and/or the Cruise Ship name you will be arriving with, the amount of persons on board and in addition a call from your Hotel confirming the Room Number.

For Cruise-ship guests morning departures are set from 08.30 – 12.30 lt

PLEASE Do not send any information of CCard by way of e-mail, but use our

FAX Nbr: 011-297-5824614 or our Phone Nbr: 011-297-5825088 Cellulars: 011-297-9927759 or 011-297-7305088 or 011-297-5660293

Hope to have given reply to your request and feel free to contact us

.

With kind regards,

roses2 - I contacted your charter boat and everything sounds fine with the exception of them not using power reels. One of our adults is 80 - he will probably need help - then we have two older teens who probably won't have a problem usuing a manual reel, and then there's me. I can just goof around and have fun, but I'm sure the guys will want to pull their catch in. Was there a need for assistance and was the crew willing/able to help?

Thanks!

For Mek:

Well, I am 77 and my wife is 71. All the fishing is trolling neither of us had a bit of trouble with the Wahoo or Dorado.

I have never seen a power reel on any sportfishing boat. The power reels are only used for deep bottom fishing and not for surface fishing.

I am certain the crew would assist if necessary.
