yodgo Posted June 6, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted June 6, 2006 We received a quote for a one way shuttle to Whittier for $475. That seems steep. Is there local bus service?
Budget Queen Posted June 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Why do you need the Whittier pick up??? There may be better options to consider??? Hertz is in Seward. But there are shuttle services- listed http://www.sewardak.org
yodgo Posted June 6, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted June 6, 2006 We were trying to arrange a one way rental from Seward to Anchorage. Hertz quoted me a price of 1137 for 6 days. Harley's Car rental will rent to me for the same time period for $525 but the rental is out of Whittier. So we are looking for an economical way to get to Whittier. GlacierLady Posted June 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Have you tried any Anchorage car rentals? You could take the train from Seward to Anchorage at 6pm and then pick up your van.
yodgo Posted June 6, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Once we pick up the rental we are headed to Homer for a week. I was trying to avoid going all the way to Anchorage and then doubling back to Homer.

I was trying to avoid going all the way to Anchorage and then doubling back to Homer. But you are taking up time with a Whittier shuttle, tunnel waits in BOTH directions etc. Anchorage is about 55 miles past the Whittier turn off and the airport is on the south side of the city. Time would essentially be about the same if you just went to Anchorage in my opinion. And plenty of rentals, priceline has had some good rates in the past, but there is also Alamo, Dollar, Payless, Thrifty plus all the majors.
