the4ofusandallourfriends Posted June 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2006 We're booked at the Amerisuites FLL in Dec for price and location. It seems like the renos aren't starting until next year now. I realize the reviews are very mixed, but it looks like we will be sticking with it. Is there a general consensus as to what is the best time to check in, for best choice, and are there specific locations within the hotel that one should try to get a room in? knarf Posted June 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2006 Hi, We have stayed at the Am. Suites about three times before our cruises. We like it alot. The location is great-walking just a block or so you have all kinds of stores-beer-whisky, Publix Grocery Store(has everything-booze, deli- big store), Eckards, restaurants-fast food and sit down, clothing etc. The last time we walked about 4 blocks and got the water taxi and went on it to several locations, very cheap and many stops where you can get on and off as you please. We also felt very safe and secure as we walked to all the different stores The hotel has a nice continental breakfast for all the guest. It also has a free shuttle from airport to hotel and from the hotel to the port. It has a pool and we thought the rooms were nice. I believe we checked in around noon each time. As far as location-we never requested a certain place and never had a problem with our rooms. Hope this answers some questions-feel free to ask. Take care, Frank
BearySweet2Cruise Posted June 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2006 can you see the ships in port from this hotel? I am trying to find one in which we can see the ships come in port
chrysalis Posted June 14, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2006 we could see some ships from our window, but if your room is at the front of the hotel, you would not be able to do that...but a short walk to the 17th st bridge would provide a great view
