November Weather out of Cape Liberty??

We will be sailing out of Cape Liberty on November 3, 2006 on the Explorer of the Seas going to the Caribbean. We are wondering when we would hit warmer weather going down the east coast. Would the first couple of Sea days be cold or just the first Sea day? Would anyone know?

Last Thanksgiving we took the voyager to Aruba (repositioning cruise). I would say the first 2 days are cold. It really didn't bother us. We had a blast. Last year November was a really cold month, colder than normal. Your going the beginning of November so I would think you should have pretty good weather leaving Cape Liberty. Have fun!!!

We're going on Explorer of the Seas in December, 2007 for a holiday cruise. We live in NYC, so, we know what to expect weather-wise when we're leaving but, can someone tell me when we will be hitting warmer weather? I know the day we board and the first day at sea will be absolute indoor days, do you think we might be able to venture out on the top decks by the second day at sea?

 

Also, for what type of activities do they plan for cruising out of cold weather ports for the first few days at sea?

Just got back to Bayonne Sunday from the June 2-11 cruise- departure day was cool but the first day at sea we were in our bathing suits(get to pool early for seat- the upper floor is a wind tunnel)...the weather was incredible until our last day at sea- that is the first time I put on sweat pants- it was windy and very-very cold...but it was the day they had a wind storm here in NJ> I was concerned about the weather before I left- as I turned out there was no need to be.

It can be horrible or delightful...and usually no in-between...lol. If you are lucky...you should be hitting nicer temps and weather by Noon the following day. So enjoy the ship...you will have plenty of time to get the sun. The first and last day will be like the old transatlantic crossing. Our grandparents somehow enjoyed themselves onboard in the colder weather...I am sure you will too.

we left from Bayonne Nov 4th (technically the 5th, since our ship left 7 hours late).

 

But by the middle of the second day we were in t-shirts, by that night it was getting quite warm!

Guess no can predict the weather, especially here!!. Last year we came back from Bermuda on 11/4 into Liberty (Voyager) and it was so warm that people were in bathing suits at the pool when we came back in under the bridge..it was glorious!!! Not normal for November. Weather was also great heading south 10/29. Never even needed a jacket...

 

We've also had snow in early November...(not a good thing!!)

 

We're doing Explorer 10/20 from Bayonne and have the same weather concerns.

 

As far as things to do..there are plenty. If you like the casino, they open shortly after sailing..Your Cruise Compass will tell you what's going on, everything from shows, trivia, eating, drinking...you name it. You won't be bored...

 

We'll let you more activities when we get back since we're going on the 9 day before you...

Here's an interesting question. What happens if the ship is sailing into or out of NY in a snow storm? One that could accumulate a couple of inches of snow? Now that is not something I would imagine happening on a cruise ship going to the caribbean. Has this ever happened to anyone?

It happened to NCL Dawn last winter - I forget exactly which month. They used to have pictures of the Dawn full of snow over on the NCL boards. You may still be able to find them.
