F5Loar Posted June 19, 2006 #128 Share Posted June 19, 2006 The new Crown Grill is suppose to add more seafood entres besides the 3 pound whole lobster (which by the way if it's only $9 extra that's a bargin by land standards). Can you tell us what other seafoods they have added? Which do you think has the best appetizers, Grill or Sabtinis?
Maraprince Posted June 19, 2006 #129 Share Posted June 19, 2006 cruisesusie, How did you like Grand Turk? What tours did you do? Anyone take the hop on/hop off bus tour? Would they recommend it? Are things running smoothly on board with the dining areas, shows, etc.? Are there any "theme" nights on board? I sail on 7/2 and any info would be most welcomed. Thank you. JanMD Posted June 19, 2006 #131 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Susan, Simple question- we all love Princess- pizza! It looks like they moved it off the sun area and downstairs again... We used to go from the pizza directly to the buffet line and it was easy- doesn't look like it is going to be that way on this ship. Get a table and start the pizza and the rest would be through the buffet line and then you could go up and get something. J

If you look at the deck plans, they have moved the pizza but it is still on the same deck. According to the plans, it is now combined with the ice cream bar located between the two pools on Lido Deck 15 so you can still do your pizza and buffet! Williamsburgers Posted June 19, 2006 #134 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Hi Susie-- I've been following your comments with growing interest...thanks for all the good stuff. Can you tell me if the entertainment has been any good? I've heard that they're doing all these new contests w/ dancing, spelling bee, and a pizza/cocktail contest. Just wondering if this is indeed true. Also, is the regular dining room food any good? Thanks, Lanny
cruisesusie Posted June 19, 2006 Author #135 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Hi Everyone, Pools - I checked them out. The aft pool and spa pool both have stairs. The 2 pools in the middle have ladders. We don't go to the shows, but I heard people talking about a great comedian - sorry I don't have his/her name. If I hear anything, I'll post. We did go to Crooners to see Maurizio - he's fantastic. So far I didn't hear about any contests - waiting for the spelling bee - maybe sea days. We haven't been eating in dining room - I heard mixed reviews - from excellent to just OK. Unless you like water sports, there's nothing much in Grand Turk - the downtown area is really nothing to see. We're going to Crown Grill tonight and I'll let you know what other seafood items they have - that's what I'm planning on ordering - had steak last time and want to try something else. Everything is running smoothly - no problems that I'm aware of. One tip - don't miss the warm delicious cookies at the International Cafe - (free). Its definitely hard to walk by without grabbing one or two or three, etc. Susan
cruzinchris Posted June 19, 2006 #136 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Many thanks to those who are posting "live" on the maiden voyage of the Crown Princess. While I'm not planning to sail on the Crown anytime soon, I'm curious about the status of stateroom breakfast delivery. Are you able to get hot items, or is only the continental menu available? Is Ultimate Balcony Breakfast and/or Ultimate Balcony Dinner offered on the Crown? TIA Bon Voyage! Chris
Soccrmom65 Posted June 19, 2006 #137 Share Posted June 19, 2006 We sailed on Caribbean Princess and one of our favorite things were the afternoon tea they had in the dining room. Is this available on the Crown? and if so is it held in the dining room as well. Thanks.

Nliedel Posted June 19, 2006 #140 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Now for a really important question. Is the hairdryer strong enough to preclude bringing my own for my long hair, or is it akin to my kids blowing their smelly breath on me? :D
STEVEPCPA Posted June 19, 2006 #141 Share Posted June 19, 2006 THANK YOU for all the info!!! I have one question. How, when, and where do you make reservations for the two specialty restaurants? Thanks. Can't wait...we sail on July 29th!:D
cruzinchris Posted June 19, 2006 #142 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Now for a really important question. Is the hairdryer strong enough to preclude bringing my own for my long hair, or is it akin to my kids blowing their smelly breath on me? :D Nancy, Hi, Neighbor! Rochester Hills now but went to school in A2 and have since lived in Troy then RH. I always enjoy your posts (read your blog, too), and I like your sense of humor. I don't have long hair (just thick) and pack my blow dryer just in case. Mostly, I don't like the location of the stateroom blow dryer - on the desk beside the balcony door - but only shavers can be used in the bathroom. To be on the safe side, take yours along, and, if you don't have to use it, store it in your luggage. I hope that you will write a review of your Crown cruise upon your return (or post during the cruise, if you're so inclined). I will look forward to hearing your observations either way. Bon Voyage! Chris PS: Have you chosen a song for Princess Idol yet? You are planning to participate, aren't you? I've been belting "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" around here since I heard Katherine McPhee sing at the coronation ceremony. She also did a memorable rendering of our National Anthem. (I do a better job on "O! Canada!" - not so many high notes).
thereuare Posted June 19, 2006 #143 Share Posted June 19, 2006 In your ship travels, can you please check out the area above cabin P246. I can't seem to get a straight answer out of Princess what is directly above this cabin, i've been told: casino, men's room, and the wait service area for the theater. From your opinion, will noise be a problem late at nite in this cabin? THANKS YOU!
cruzzers Posted June 19, 2006 #144 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Our friends are onboard the Crown with you all posting live. cruisesusie Posted June 19, 2006 Author #145 Share Posted June 19, 2006 I have to agree about the hairdryer - the one I have home works better than the one here. If your hair is long bring your own. Make reservations at the specialty restaurants as soon as you board, either by going directly to the restaurants or calling. I don't know if the Crown Grill is open for lunch - I'll check. For dinner, the charge is 25.00 pp plus an extra 9.00 pp for lobster. Afternoon tea is held everyday in one of the dining rooms. We don't order breakfast from room service so I can't answer the question about hot items. I assume they're offering the balcony breakfast and dinner. They also have a special lunch just on this ship - Nathan's hotdog, Junior's cheesecake and a bottle of Brooklyn beer - 7.00. One other thing - they have what they call "street performers" in the piazza. So far they've had magicians, singers, jugglers. They perform throughout the day and draw large crowds. Until tomorrow... lbiSeaGlass Posted June 19, 2006 #146 Share Posted June 19, 2006 Hi everyone,We are going on the Crown in a couple of weeks, July 2nd. Very exited and can't wait, we have to start packing soon. Ezi Hey neighbor, we are from Newtown, PA. We'll be going on the 8/7/06 Crown cruise. Would you mind giving us any info on your drive to the pier. We don't usually drive to NYC from PA so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a blast!
Sandytoes Posted June 20, 2006 #147 Share Posted June 20, 2006 Cruisesusie and Bassethound - Both of you are the Greatest ! ! ! Taking time out from your fabulous vacation to inform all of us. Seen any BINGO or Casino Winners on Board? Being that it seems Princess has begun to charge more for the little extras, have you seen anyone win in the casinos? I have a funny feeling it will be harder to come out a winner on this ship. Has the BINGO? Other activities -- Spelling Bee? Action in the Casino? Thanks, Chris

From your opinion, will noise be a problem late at nite in this cabin? THANKS YOU! Hi Thereuare, According to the deckplans that you can view on the Princess website, it appears to me that your cabin is right below the very corner of the Casino on Port side (probably below a few slot machines), and also right below the very corner of a Mens bathroom. Not sure if the noise might come from the slot machine (doubtful), people moving a chair (it's probably carpeted above you so I don't think that will be an issue), the only thing else would be the flushing of the toilet (you got me on that one, but would that be any different from the flushing next door). anyway, good luck, either way.
