4x4 tour Skagway

The tour just goes to places that locals take their regular cars to. My experience with the tour is just talking to the "guides", who know little about the area - I look at it as the world's most expensive Jeep rental. As BQ said, it gets few positive reviews.

:D If you are referring to the Takshanuk Mountain Trail by 4x4, we did it a couple of weeks ago and it was the highlight of our trip. Great scenery and lots of fun driving a 4x4 up a mountain trail and then barbecued chicken and fried halibut on the way down.

Emma,

Yes, we took the ferry to Haines. It was really a lot of fun...check out http://takshanuktrail.com/. I drove the four of us in a caravan of about 8-10 4x4 vehicles up the trail. We stopped at the lodge for a cookie and hot chocolate break on the way up and then made several stops for pictures and wildlife (did'nt see any) on the way up. On the way back down, we stopped at the lodge again for lunch. We all really enjoyed it and got some great pictures.

We were on the Dawn Princess and in Skagway on May 30. We had booked the Yukon Jeep Adventure and when we met the person from the company on the dock, we were informed that there would be no off road portion because the property owner wouldn't allow it yet because the land was too wet for vechicles.

They were offering an alternative of more locations to drive to but gave us the option of cancelling which we did.
