greatam Posted June 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2006 I just returned from a business/fishing trip to Alaska. On a free day, I drove to Seward from Soldotna and took the Northwestern Glacier cruise. Boat was the Chugach. Captain/narrator was absolutely spectacular. Saw all three types of whales, seals, sea lions, otters, more birds than I could count (and one really rare one-couldn't tell you which one, but I know the avid birders were really oohing and ahhing and the Captain was making a big deal about it). We met up with a research ship-the premier whale researcher in the world was on board the research ship and joined our ship for about 1/2 hour. Evidently there was a new pod of Orca's never before seen in Alaska and he gave us a lot of info. Cooked on board lunch AND home made chocolate chip cookies cooked on board. It was a long day, but if you have the day free in Seward, this little cruise was truly one of the best I have ever been on and well worth the money. I would go again in a hot minute. http://www.kenaifjords.com/545.cfm
Budget Queen Posted June 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2006 Now you know why, this is one of my top "must do" recommendations. :) I know I sound like a broken recommend but as you describe this is a fantastic boat trip.
