geofg Posted July 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2006 this time tomorrow I will be on the Crown Princess!!!! this is my 6th cruise 2nd on princess, me and my girlfriend always like to plan out what will be our first of many drinks when we get on board. I'm interested to hear some feedback.... here are my top three. 1. kettle one and club soda 2. good old fashioned budweiser 3.. now don't laugh........mudslide
LARGIN Posted July 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2006 The Crown is a classy lady and needs to be toasted with a glass of expensive champagne..
SoFloDeb Posted July 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Since you'll be sailing to the "tropics", try a rum runner. DH and I think Princess makes the best. We usually get the Medium sized, its frozen, but not too frozen - and it will definitely get you in the mood for the Caribbean!
Hapinowagain Posted July 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2006 I agree....nothing like starting off a cruise with champagne. :D
Psee Posted July 1, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2006 I'd recommend a BBC. Princess makes one of the best! :)
mindykatz Posted July 1, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2006 1. kettle one and club soda 2. good old fashioned budweiser 3.. now don't laugh........mudslide If I had to pick from your list, I'd go for Ketel One and soda....but I agree with LARGIN in that you should do something classy like champagne...a week from Tuesday my family and I will be hanging out on the mini-suite balcony with a glass of champagne as we pass Lady Liberty Save the Bud for something else ;) Enjoy your cruise! Maybe we'll pass each other as you get off the ship and I get on!!!
Cruise-a-holic444 Posted July 1, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2006 the Pina Coladas on Princess are FANTASTIC! And, I might add, you can get one the size of a BIG GULP for about $8. :) LOL:p
mycruz Posted July 1, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 1, 2006 We have a tradition, champagne on the balcony as we sail away....however I have been known to have a drink with lunch, usually something very tropical!
Sandytoes Posted July 1, 2006 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2006 What are other options? fufu drinks? :p Or should I say Tropical? Any Martini drinkers out there?
Colo Cruiser Posted July 1, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Ultimate Cooler. :D
thechandlers99 Posted July 1, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 1, 2006 How 'bout a Miami Vice...1/2 Pina Colada, 1/2 Strawberry Daiquiri...yummy!!! Those have to be my favorite. I will be having one in 3 weeks on the Caribbean Princess!
donna5 Posted July 1, 2006 #12 Share Posted July 1, 2006 I have never seen ketel one on Princess, do they have more choices on the crown? The pina coladas on other Princess ships are fantastic, so I'll cast my vote for it too.
madelinerose Posted July 1, 2006 #13 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Grey Goose, Blue Curacao and lime juice - the color of the Caribbean. ;) Any Martini drinkers out there?
thewolffs Posted July 1, 2006 #14 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Bahama Mama or Rum Runner are my favorites.
Rare NthernLgts Posted July 1, 2006 #15 Share Posted July 1, 2006 What are other options? fufu drinks? :p Or should I say Tropical? Any Martini drinkers out there? I had one or two on the CB called "A Kurrant Affair" which is a basically a black martini made with three shots Absolut Kurrant vodka instead of unflavored, and one of Chambord.....shaken, not stirred.....(in my best Bond voice) . An excellent berry flavored martini with a definite kick. $10 gets you the martini in quite a nice etched souvenir glass. I brought 2 home. I believe they were around $6 without the take home glass. They're now one of my favorites.
4tocruisesoon Posted July 1, 2006 #16 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Oh my, you all are making me want a drink! I have never had a martini, and I might try to act sophisticated when we sail on the Crown and endulge in one of these :) Thanks all for giving ME some ideas too! DeltaOne Posted July 1, 2006 #17 Share Posted July 1, 2006 Oh my, you all are making me want a drink! I have never had a martini, and I might try to act sophisticated when we sail on the Crown and endulge in one of these :) Our first martini was here in town having dinner with friends (the friends loved martinis). They ordered...I think it was just a standard martini. We hated them...tasted like gasoline! Later we tried a citrus martini and loved it. Our before dinner ritual, when cruising, now includes a martini. Very relaxing. So, my advice...order a some type of citrus martini for your first one. josh35b Posted July 1, 2006 #18 Share Posted July 1, 2006 A Mojito. Looks awesome and tastes pretty good too. Not too strong either. Have to try it at least once. I think it's usually one of the drinks of the day.
pounder207 Posted July 2, 2006 #19 Share Posted July 2, 2006 What are other options? fufu drinks? :p Or should I say Tropical? Any Martini drinkers out there? Why waste space with the vermouth? Bombay sapphire on the rocks with pearl onions. Or if you want to see if the bartender knows what he's doing, go for a rusty nail or if it's too early for that, a stinger--the real kind--with brandy. dresch25 Posted July 2, 2006 #20 Share Posted July 2, 2006 On our last cruise we did all the shots princess had to offer and I have to say the Jammin' Jelly Donut was the best. Give them a try you won't be disappointed.
spider3455 Posted July 2, 2006 #21 Share Posted July 2, 2006 My girlfriend loves the Chocolate Bananas. Definately worth a try!
Deloresgardella Posted July 2, 2006 #22 Share Posted July 2, 2006 Do they still have the clear souvenir glasses on any of the Princess ships. I got a two on the Regal a couple years ago and didn't see them on the Coral last year. The ones I bought were in one of the shops. I wish now I had picked up more instead of only two. Would love to get some more. Delores
Rare NthernLgts Posted July 3, 2006 #23 Share Posted July 3, 2006 By the way, the CB (and probably most Princess ships) has a martini making demonstration in the atrium which is usually quite entertaining and informative.
Ashlea13vb Posted July 5, 2006 #24 Share Posted July 5, 2006 Does Princess carry flavored vodkas, i.e., Stoli Vanilla, etc.? I hope so, because I've recently discovered Stoli Vanilla and ginger ale.... tastes like cream soda!
mariakitty Posted July 5, 2006 #25 Share Posted July 5, 2006 We always start our cruise with a glass of champagne - the more expensive the better! If that isn't your thing, try a dirty martini with Belvedere or Grey Goose vodka. YUM!
