Extended Time in San Juan (Crown)

TA received a FAX from Princess today stating that we would arrive in San Juan at 10 a.m. instead of noon for our 9/21 cruise. We take this as GREAT news as we love San Juan. More time to enjoy Bacardi, Old San Juan's history, great restaurants and maybe a quick trip to a casino.

Does anyone have an idea as to "why"? I'm guessing Princess has altered the times after the first couple of cruises and realizing that 10 is a possibility.

They have also altered the 9/30 sailing...we were due to arrive at 9am and will now get in at 8am. I like you am guessing that they have seen an earlier arrival happen on these cruises. Our faxes we receive just give the change..no reason. I am sailing right after you so bring her back in good shape!

According to a friend of ours who spoke with PR Immigration, if Princess sends forth and mainfests of all passengers and if they are "in order", ie: no bad guys which would be pre-screened anyway from getting on the ship in the first place, there wouldn't be any probems with immigration in PR. It would be a swipe and walk off thing.

My question is did they change the re-embark time? Or shorten Bermuda?

After reading the first four posts here, I went to the Princess website and checked the itinerary for my sailing (338 days from now) and sure enough, they've actually changed the itinerary to read:

5 San Juan, Puerto Rico 9:00 AM 6:00 PM

So there you have it, and I wouldn't be surprised if they modify some of the other times if they realize they can get there earlier or stay later or whatever.

We shall see!

Thanks for the info - I guess after reading how long it has taken people to go through customs in SJ, this will be a good thing - more time in the hospitality room at Bacardi maybe? :p

After reading this thread I went to the Princess web site to see if the itinerary for our Western Caribbean sailing has changed, and it has -- Now, instead of leaving Pt. Canaveral at 1, we leave at 2. I guess maybe Princess hear the complaints of not enough time there? It seemed to me like a lot of people were opting out of shore excursions there because others reported they were so rushed. (We had decided to opt out, too, based on this change... maybe we'll reconsider???)

Yes --- I just went to our personalizer for the 8/25 Crown cruise, and our arrival time in San Juan has also been moved up to 10:00 am instead of noon. Still the same departure time. Sounds like good news to me....

YIPPIE!!

Next week's itinerary for the Crown now has us arriving earlier in San Juan at 10AM and departing at our scheduled time of 11PM. It appears that Princess is absorbing the apparent 1 to 2 hour processing time and still allowing us to be in port for the entire original itinerary time-frame.

Now no matter what transpires with customs, our group can proceed with all the plans we've made for our fun-filled day and night in San Juan!

Finally, some news that's actually reasonable and makes complete sense to me. Go figure! :)
