Captains - Where Are They Now?

I enjoy the current Captains thread and it got me wondering about some of the Captains we have sailed with over the years. Does anyone know the what became of some of my favorites? Are they retired, gone to other cruise lines, or what?

 

Osten Andreassen - Song of Norway 1983, Song of America 1990 & 1994

Eigel Eriksen - Nordic Prince 1985, Sovereign 1989

Per Moen - Nordic Prince 1992

Kjell Smitterberg - Nordic Empress 1991

Bengt Ronson - Grandeur 1997

Arnold Remo - Rhapsody 1997

Prash Karnik - Nordic Empress 2000

Captain Kjell Smitterberg is retired and living in his native Gotland, Sweden. He visited Captain James MacDonald a few months back on Jewel of the Seas in Stockholm. Captain James said he looks good. We sailed with him about ten times from 1985.

That would explain his retirement.:D It wasn't, by any chance, just before you were scheduled to sail with him for an eleventh time, was it?;)

Captain Kjell was always very good to us. Almost always invited us to dine with him. The last time we sailed with him on Nordic Empress, prior to him taking another position in Singapore, he invited us twice on a four day trip. When we got home, he sent us a 4' by 6' picture of the Stardancer [Viking Serenade] in Tracy Arm, that was hanging in his Quarters on NE.......it's still hanging in our living room. Have you received this kind of treatment from a Captain?
