Anyone done Sovereign Back to Back?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any experience doing back to back sailings on Sovereign?? Going next month and wondering what to expect on the turn around day. Luggage handling? Customs?? Any insight is appreciated. Happy cruising!!

I did April 28- May 5, 2006. I briefly touched on this in my review. You can search for Kidnapped Husband Part 1 and Kidnapped Husband Part 2, or email me with your questions (karenplugerathotmaildotcom).

I did a B2B April 28-May 5, 2006. But we switched rooms. Anyway at check in tell the lady you're doing a B2B. The port agent needs to know. She'll give you the forms you need to fill out for the 2nd part of your cruise. And she'll tell you where to meet her and what time to meet her during turnaround. May 1 we had Beatrice and we meet her at Guest Relations at 9:30 am. I hadn't told the check-in lady we were doing a B2B cuz it was a surprise for DH. I had gone to Guest Relations the first day of our cruise and asked what to do and the ass't jr purser told me just to bring my luggage and wait in the area by the desk (its called International Reception(?)). Well technically, that was wrong, we needed the customs and Bahamian forms to fill out. The port agent Beatrice was a very very nice woman. It didn't bother her a bit that there were 2 couples to process instead of the 1 she thought she had. Anyway, from 7:45 to 9:30 we stood in the waiting area by the desk (all the chairs were taken by people waiting for their tags to be called instead of in the lounges like they were supposed to) and watched the other sad folks leave. Priceless. Then Beatrice showed up and us and another couple walked off (leaving our luggage by the Guest Relations desk) with her (going out the in line) back into the terminal. You could hear a pin drop in the terminal as they weren't open yet to process new guests. Beatrice had to board a wedding party, so she did that while the check-in lady took our new Set Sail passes, credit card, and got us our new SeaPass cards. Then she came back and walked us back onto the ship. No customs. We took our luggage up to our new room and the cabin steward was in the process of cleaning it but he let us leave our luggage in the room. So we wandered around a totally empty ship. There were a few cleaning crew wandering around vacuuming or looking for something to clean. They had it all done by 10:30 (the public areas). We listened to the announcements about testing the emergency generators, walked around an empty pool deck. Couldn't decide what lounge chair to lay on! We took a nap topside with soft music playing in the background (nice of them to play that for the crew working). Should've done the nasty in the dining room when we went in to look for our new table assignment, there wasnt' a soul in there. Of course the casino and shops are closed. You don't see anyone at the Excursions Desk or Guest Relations desk (I suppose they're in their office behind the counter). Before you know it, at 11:30 someone announces "Stations everyone, guests are boarding". If you have any other questions email me at karenplugerathotmaildot com

Thanks wch! Sounds like it was a simple process. However, we are thinking about renting a car and heading to the beach during the day. Anyone have any experience leaving the ship in Port Canaveral during the turn around?

We did a B2B, and didn't leave the ship except to do the quick turnaround, but you certainly CAN leave. Just get your new SeaPass, and instead of turning around and walking back onto the ship, walk outside and leave.

When you want to get back on, any time before 4, just zip on through and board.

Have a blast..........we did. If you like (and have a strong constitution), click on the link in my signature.

I stayed there for four days before a cruise out of PC, did the Kennedy Space Center and hung at the beach. I didn't think it was a fabulous beach.

I do live 20 min from the beach in so Cal. so maybe I am biased...pam

maybe there is a nicer beach close by that I don't know about....
