c breeze Posted July 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2004 We are interested in a nice quiet beach and also some snorkeling from the beach. Which spot is better Rum Point or Cemetary Beach? Thanks!
Gradelady Posted July 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2004 Rum Point can get quite busy and congested. There is some great snorkeling opportunities here though. Be aware that there is a bar and restaurant and some cruiselines have excursions here. Cemetary beach is just that, a beach by a cemetary, with a port-a-potty. No food service or fancy frills here! Just excellent snorkelling spot. WE never miss either place when we stay in GC!
Art123 Posted July 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2004 I have never been to either, but when we where there this spring, we had planned a taxi to Rum Point. After we arrived, we discovered the fare would be almost $100 each way. If you decide on Rum Point, either take the ferry, or rent a car.
c breeze Posted July 7, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted July 7, 2004 We were thinking of using Nativeways either to go to Cemetery Beach to swim and snorkel or to Go to Stingray City, snorkeling at Barrier Reef and the a visit to Rum Point Beach. dst Posted July 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2004 We are in GC July and decided to rent a car so that we can go to both beaches (and maybe a few more) the whole car rental, we did a med size car, was 52.00 includes taxes and a fill-up of gas. Thought it was a pretty good price. Jeeps are about 79.00 (but we wanted somethign with a trunk to be able to lock stuff up) Either way you'll have a great time
cruzinchar Posted August 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2004 As someone else said, Cemetary Beach is great snorkeling, but has no "conveniences". So what! Just take a taxi up there, you'll have a great time. Now, Rum Point is a wonderful day trip. Yes, probably cheapest to go by ferry from the Hyatt unless you have a car. I don't think it's worth snorkeling there at all, but it's a great place to kick back, have a great lunch outside, lay in the sun, listen to music, lay in a hammock. Both are great places, but if you want snorkeling, that would be Cemetary Beach.
