Summit - Question About Balconies

Can any one who has sailed the Summit tell me if the veranda cabins have plexi-glass on their balconies? Also, is the Concierge class that much different than the 2a,2b,2c>

The ones we have had do have plexiglass veranda separators. As for different size verandas, there are some balconies that are larger than normal:

2A: 8160,8146,9173,9138

2B: 7049,7080,7163,7166,7171,7173,7175,7177,7174,

7176,7178,7180

2C:6016,6018,6020,6021,6022,6023,6024,6025,

6026,6027,6029,6030,6031,6033,6034

CC: 9043,9038,9201,9164,9162,9160,

8045,8046,8185,8176,8172,8170

6135,6136,6143,6144,7023,7212,7208,7206

There are some undesirable verandas. There was a thread on undesirable cabins somewhere on this board just recently. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=350377

We have 6030 on the 16th Summit Alaska cruise and wouldn't change it for almost anything (FV or Suite maybe).

The CC cabins are larger than the category 2's. Cat 2 is 175 sq ft and CC is 191 sq ft. Plus the CC has the extra amenities.

All the balconies on the Summit have the plexiglass at the balcony railing. There is frosted glass between the balconies.

Interesting...I like what you stated there.

We have that very same cabin, #6030, on the

9/30/06 cruise to Hawaii, out of L.A., on the SUMMIT. :D

We also have Cabin #9043 on the MILLENNIUM,

next March, for a B2B, Caribbean and, T/A, which

you also mentioned.

The standard balcony cabins have 170 SF while the concierge class ones are 191 SF. Even though there is only a 21 SF difference between the two categories, the concierge class cabins feel a lot more spacious.

Here are two photos to illustrate a concierge class cabin and plexi-glass on its balcony. These photos were taken on the Constellation, which is a sister ship to the Summit.

Unless my eye sight is deceiving me, when looking at pictures of the boat and seeing the balconies and I am speaking here about the normal CC ones (not the larger ones at the back) but generally on the side of the ship. It seems to me no difference at all from the normal ones and the CC class.

If you look at the side view all the glass partitions run down in a line...

WOuld welcome someone putting me right on this. Some personal photos it is obvious you can see the CC ones since they have the blue cushions but they still look all the same.

We have gotten lots of positive responses on 6030 because it has a 2x size balcony and is the last of the big balconies on that side. The balcony on the next aft cabin is set back about 10 feet so you really don't have any neighbors on your right side.

While you are on board the Summit... would you or could you take a look at the cabins with the larger balconies.. i.e. 8045,8046 and 8146 and 8161. Heard good and bad things and wondering if the balconies really are larger. Many thanks...

Would love to hear about cabins 8045,46 and 8146 and 8061. Are the balconies larger as per brochure?? And aft CC the way to go.

We are with a group to Hawaii Mar 17 and trying to pick the right cabins..

If you have the opportunity to grab an aft cabin............do it!

We have one on the Summit 9/16 and they seem to be in very high demand. Very long waiting lists for them, so if one is available, go for it.

Hi-

Just back from Summit Alaska cruise. We were in 8046 and can attest that the balcony is indeed quite a bit larger. The left side is about 3 feet longer than the right side, making it much more pleasurable for two people to sit outside (with breakfast!!) without feeling crowded. It also affords a bit of a more panoramic view. If you can snag one of these, don't pass it up.
