Gambling on Carnival

I'm sailing on the Pride on October 22, I was wondering do you use cash for gambling or do you charge it like everything else?

thanks!

Debbie

The answer is: either or. You can charge it on your s&s card, or you can pay cash. If you do charge it on your card it's however much you charge plus 3%. If you use cash, there is no fee. Enjoy your cruise:)

For anyone familiar with Las Vegas gaming, particularly slot gaming, on average how does Carnival stack up?

Denomination wise as well... the .25 vs 1.00 vs 5.00 (if anyone knows)

Just wanna know if the gaming is worthwhile or just a reverse ATM

Thanks

Compared with Las Vegas, they suck as far as slot gaming. The payback is not as good. They do have machines ranging from .05-$25.

The lowest table bet is 5$ (red chips.) They have $25 (green chips) and $100 (black chips) as well. If you hit a blackjack on a $5 bet they also have a way to pay you $2.50, I think there is a special chip for that but you have to bet them in $5 increments.

I have a question about gambling on cruise ships.

Back in the olden days when DH and I took our first crusie the ship had one slot machine in the lobby of the dining room.

I can understand why the ships devote so much space to a casino...obviously it brings in a lot of money.

But why do passengers gamble onboard ship?

Are they bored?

Are there no casinos near their homes?

The payouts are better in Tunica and the drinks are free, why not go there to make donations?

I don't have real casinos in South Florida.

I do have pseudo-Casinos with the Indians, but they have those cruddy class II intertwined bingo-like sorta-slot machines.

Secondly, I own my own business and because of that my mind goes 24/7/365 and I have found that sitting at a slot machine is something that allows me to space out...yes, slot machines is a mindless form of gaming, that's why I like it. Winning from time to time is nice as well.

Not everyone leaves near Tunica, N.O., Biloxi, Reno, LV, Foxwoods or Mohegan...

The best games! The biggest payouts! The most fun!

Our casinos onboard offer everything from penny slots to high stakes blackjack. We have some fun table games for the casual player and traditional games such as craps and roulette. Most of the slot and table games are what you would expect to find in any large casino in North America. Please note that size restrictions do not enable us to offer all of the games on all of our vessels, however most of the larger ships offer a wide selection.

If you wish to learn the table games we provide complimentary gaming lessons where the casino host or dealer will teach you the basics of all the games in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our friendly casino staff are happy to answer your questions at any time.

We have a wide variety of slots featuring nickel multi line games, video pokers, keno, Wheel of Fortune, many with progressive jackpots and "Megacash" the big one! Denominations are from nickels, with quarter and dollar machines up to $5, but we do have some penny machines and $25 reel machines.

Our featured games are:

Blackjack

Roulette

Craps

Caribbean Stud Poker

Slots

Let It Ride Bonus

3 Card Poker

Fun 21

Face Up Blackjack

Wheel of Madness Blackjack

Fun 21 and Face Up Blackjack are fun versions of the traditional game of blackjack that anyone can enjoy.

The poker games offer great jackpots and are simple and fun to play.

Players can enjoy double odds on craps.

Minimum bets on most games are $5 with maximum bets on blackjack of up to $500.

That's a good answer.

I have only been to the casinos in Tunica a few times. I was sitting there playing the slots and realized that I was trying to think of a more efficient way to get my money into the machine.

It was supposed to be fun, but to me it was a chore.

Black Jack might be more fun, but it requires paying attention, so...it's more work.:)

No, we don't have "REAL" casinos in Florida. But we do have ocean going ships that offer all forms of gambling plus free drinks. These can be found at almost every major port in the State. Port Canaveral for example has two of these vessels sailing twice daily.:)

Here in Charlotte, gambling is taboo. We just got the PowerBall lottery a few months ago, and it was a huge surprise, and took some really sneaky tricks in the legislature to get it through. Nearest casino is in Cherokee in the Smoky Mountains, and that is a long drive, and they only have slots. You can go out on a boat in Myrtle Beach and gamble from there, but again a 3 hour drive. So, a casino is a nice amenity for us.

You will ALWAYS lose money gambling in the long run. That is just the law of probablility. So I look at gambling as entertainment that I have to pay for, just like going to a movie at home.

But you can play well and reduce the odds to a pretty good level, especially at BlackJack. And with poker, a really good player can probably expect to win more than they lose (at the expense of bad players.)

A lot of people do not gamble. I do not do it much, because I do not like to lose much. But it is fun to try your luck once in a while.
